I am very happy with the app.

I know its challenging with the KDE names:

Both plasma5 and KDE4 isnt correct, if thats important to you.

KDE SC 4 and KDE Applications 5 fit it most, i guess.

The output looks good.
Does color folder show up in the context menu of directories?
Are you using the Frameworks 5 version of dolphin?

I tried bypassing and simply running the Plasma 5 leg. Could not create /colorfolder.desktop and /colorfolder.sh. Obviously, a correct path must precede these. Maybe then, need run sudo.

Could you try the install.sh from https://github.com/HessiJames/kde-color-folder and run it using "bash ./install.sh".
Also, could you tell me the bash version using "bash --version".

Install.sh on git looks the same.
Bash version is 4.3.42

Did, indeed, work using bash install.sh. Question is: Why did sh not work. Mine points to dash. Why?

Hi. Although the idea is similar, I don't think it would be a good idea to merge both service menus.
I would suggest you create your own release and if you wish, we can each add a link to the description so interested users can find the other service menu more quickly.

at the moment it seems not run the color on a mounted folder (with samba)

Could you please be a little bit more specific. I don't use samba so I can't test anything.
Did you mount the folder or are you accessing it with the smb kio slave (url starts with smb://)?
If you use the smb kio slave then it is not possible and the color folder context shouldn't even show up.
Otherwise, have you checked permissions? Could you try changing the icon manually (right click on the folder -> properties -> click on the icon).

Unfortunately this doesn't answer my question. But I have to assume that use are using a smb:// url. In this case it is not possible to color the folder. Dolphin will simply not show a different icon because it would have to check every directory for a .desktop file and that wouldn't be efficient over a network.

I was looking for a quick way to do this as I use colours to quickly navigate folders.
Just downloaded and will use this soon.

I dont know if its possible for you to add a pop up dialog that asks me if I want to change colours for all sub directories as well.

To kubuntu kde 4.6.2 ...copy archive colorfolder in usr/bin and colorfolder.desktop in /usr/share/kde4/services/ServiceMenus/ as root
and really works!!

kbuildsycoca4 didn't solve, I tried in suse 11.3 and kde 4.6.2, install.sh doesn't create the ServiceMenus folder, so I made it by hand and copied colorfolder.desktop there, colorfolder was already copied in usr/bin by install.sh and now it works, thanks :-)
tomorrow I'll try in suse 11.4
