Hello,
I'm investigating missing files and it seems linked to qcomicbook.

Some important files have recently disappeared from my /home structure (I'm talking hundreds of files).
Instead plenty of directories qcomic-123456789 have appeared (8 to 10 random digits), all dated to the first time I installed and used qcomicbook:

$ find -name qcomic-\* | wc -l
87

$ ll -d $(find -name qcomic-\*)
drwxr-xr-x 3 dargaud dargaud 4096 janv. 5 21:58 ./Corono/OTHER/qcomic-1793889537/
drwxr-xr-x 2 dargaud dargaud 12288 janv. 5 21:58 ./Dargaud/MISC/qcomic-1364805944/
drwxr-xr-x 6 dargaud dargaud 4096 janv. 5 21:58 ./Dargaud/MISC/qcomic-2097758587/
drwxr-xr-x 5 dargaud dargaud 4096 janv. 5 21:58 ./Dargaud/MISC/qcomic-906977449/
drwxr-xr-x 3 dargaud dargaud 4096 janv. 5 21:58 ./Dargaud/qcomic-354961753/
...
drwxr-xr-x 3 dargaud dargaud 4096 janv. 5 21:59 ./Dargaud/WebPageStuff/Websites/Various/qcomic-670492322/

Most of those contain the same file names:

$ ls ./Dargaud/Text/Antarctic/qcomic-121457687/
Configurations2 content.xml META-INF meta.xml mimetype settings.xml styles.xml Thumbnails

But some contain random files from other directories (either copies or moved):

$ ls ./Text/MOUNTAIN/qcomic-67738215
Guil154.tif GUIL155.TIF GUIL156.TIF GUIL157.TIF Guil84.tif GUIL85.TIF GUIL86.TIF GUIL87.TIF GUIL88.TIF

The above files are from a zip files that is GONE. It's still in my backup so I'm sure of it.

Now some of those are directories I haven't touched in years. Not even 'cd' inside.
And now all those qcomic dir appear at the time I did use qcomicbook to read a few .cbz on an nfs share. They are all dated Jan 5, same two times one hour apart.

It's a new PC with a fresh install of Kubuntu and smartctl reports no error.

ALL my openoffice odt files are GONE. Instead I find traces of them in the form of xml garbage in the qcomicbook directories. For example:

$ grep contester Dargaud/Text/Misc/qcomic-330375409/content.xml
Je souhaite contester la pr
$ odt2txt BACKUP/Dargaud/Text/Misc/MISSING_FROM_HOME.odt | grep contester
Je souhaite contester la pr

Questions:
- does qcomicbook indeed create those qcomic-123456789 directories ?
- does it explore /home to find zip files and open them ?
- if so, how come they show up in so many old directories where I certainly have not opened it ?

My last backup is over a month old and there are so many differences that it's a fucking nightmare. I want to know if qcomicbook is responsible for this and what happened.

First off, thanks for developing this app, its great. I'm just missing one feature, and that is... in "2 pages mode" add an option to show a single page when width is greater than height. Because currently just shows both pages without considering that one of them take too much space and the other looks tiny and unreadable.

For example: http://i.imgur.com/tntA5.png

Regards.

Hello,

Thanks a lot for developing this soft, it's true okular can help but it is not as good for comics books!
Okular has a clean frame transition in continuous mode, but looking at qcomicbook changelog on github this should be fixed soon :)
and QComicBook has a multi-column thumbnails (important for big archives with several comic volumes); okular has an overview mode but it is not possible to choose a picture from there and switch back to single/2pages mode

[Feature Request] Image Enhance
As in mcomix (or cdisplay in windows etc), some image enhancing features ((automatic) contrast, etc) to correct colour scans would be a great addition (using imagemagick?)

[Feature Request] 2 Pages facing
Currently I think it is not possible to choose the left page; for instance in mcomix it is possible to choose one thumbnail (e.g. frame number 351) and the displayed facing pages are then this one and the next (e.g. 351+352); choosing the next thumbnail as left page is possible (e.g. 352+353).

In KDE 4.7, Okular can handle directories with images in it as comic books. Just thought I should let you know.

Hi. QComicBook has this feature as well (via File > Open directory) from the first release (if I got you right).

Okular is the, well, mostly PDF reader, of KDE. And now it has practically the basic feature to compete with this. It has pretty much the same features as QComicBook. Thats how I mean it.

Hi, in 0.8.1 version background color is the same as kde windows, I tried to change it in "qcomicbook setting" but it doesn't.
However I found it works when you comment out "setFrameShape(QFrame::NoFrame);" line in pageviewbase.cpp

Hi, I'll take a look at it. Please report issues on https://github.com/stolowski/QComicBook, this makes it a lot easier to track them.

I can't reproduce this problem. Changing background color in QComicBook 0.8.1 works as expected...

if I change GUI style in qtconfig from "Desktop Setting (default)" in another style it works,so maybe problem is kde version (4.5.5).

Hi,

in full screen mode, I still see a thin, blue border. Quite annoying.

Otherwise, thank you for sharing this!

The border is gone in 0.8.1! Excellent! Brilliant!

Thank you so much!

(Compilation went fine on Gentoo 64, Qt 4.7.2)

Hello, I thought about a nice feature to add. It would be good to have a "Hide/show menu" option (which is now present in many KDE applications), with Ctrl+M hotkey. It is not of great importance though.

P.S. Waiting with joy for the 0.8.0 release :-)

Great app, just what I need for my huge manga collection. Everything works fine, but could you add a feature of naming the bookmarks (pop up a dialogue, maybe)? I have really long filenames (not to mention paths). Anyway, it will be neat ^^.

It would be great to have support of oganizing your comics. Make categories of them and add comments to each one.

My web hosting (including qcomicbook tarballs) is no longer available. I'm looking for a new web hosting - please see http://stolowski.blogspot.com/2009/12/urgent-my-website-is-down-looking-for.html if you can help. I'll provide new download location(s) once they're available.

is anyone else experiencing hanging (most of the time) when loading 7zip archives? been this way for me since 0.4.0.

i'd really like to use qcomicbook cuz afaict it is the only *nix comic book viewer with 7zip support, except it doesn't work as advertised for me (with 7zip archives).

I had a chat with Pawel, and he found a workaround: Install the full version of p7zip (called p7zip-full in debian/ubuntu).
