Description:

KAlgebra is a MathML-based graph calculator. Besides it was initially mathml oriented now it can be used by everyone with little mathematic knowledge.

KAlgebra is on KDE-Edu for now, I am not posting any source code since it would be the same as you would find inside it, BTW if you still a KAlgebra-alone package tell me and I'll make it.
Last changelog:

There are a big lot of changes.

Port to KDE/Qt4, New calculation engine, simplification, differentiation...

Any possibility of extending this to deal with graphing functions of s? Preferably in polar coordinates.

This application has moved to kdeedu, maybe you could post a wish into bugs.kde.org or send me a mail to aleixpol at gmail dot com telling me about this feature.

Thanks

Well it seems no-one is packaging for SuSE 10.1, so I started packaging KAlgebra again.

SuSE 10.1 rpm:
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/knuckles/rpm/suse101/kalgebra-0.5-1.knux.suse101.i586.rpm

My website:
http://pwp.netcabo.pt/knuckles/rpm/

(Btw the 10.0 link you currently have is broken)

I moved my kalgebra rpm's to the opensuse build service:
http://repos.opensuse.org/home:/knuckles/

Here you can find i386 and x86_64 rpm's for:
- SLES 9
- SLE 10
- SUSE Linux 9.3
- SUSE Linux 10.0
- SUSE Linux 10.1
- openSUSE 10.2
- openSUSE factory

I tried to compile but go a failure to find GL/glu.h included in /usr/include/qt-3.3/include/qgl.h. It's not a mesa file so far as I can tell so I'm at a loss. What else do I need to compile kalgebra?

Hi! I think that for OpenGL, libgl1-mesa-dev and libglu1-mesa-dev are enough in Kubuntu, I don't know how they will be called in your distro but it should be something similar... Perhaps you have a kde-devel package...

Perhaps you could told us which distro are you using and we could check it.

Good luck!

I like the name.
But, everybody at his own opinion on this thing...

Too, is it possible in the new release, that the application where in (the menu K) Educatif >> Maths because in Utilitary, i don't see why !

If I'm not wrong, that depends on packager. In my opinion, it should go into Education>Maths.
I don't use the menu anyway, I use to open programs with minicli (alt+f2).

Bye!

Too, I have discoverded a bug :

Shit! I hate these stupid bugs :P. Thanks.

I've been looking at the .desktop file and I think that now it is OK.

Bye!

PS: Both problems are fixed in current snapshots and will be fixed too in the next release of course.

I like it a lot but the name is probably mischosen.

Algebra itself does not at all care about function graphs.

Algebra handles:
a) linear equation systems (linear algebra)
b) abtract strucures like groups, rings, bodies, etc. over numbers or polynoms

Imho the perfect name would be KAnalysis because Analysis is the math discipline where all's about functions.

Greets,
alcCapone

I know, but I'm focusing the development to Algebra for new versions (it needs a lot of work for the moment).
BTW, I think KAlgebra is nicer than KAnalisys (which was the original name of KAlgebra but in catalan, KAnalitza. I didn't like it). If more people thinks that it should be changed, tell me and we'll look for something more correct. I think it's OK for the moment.

I repeat, I'm sorry :P.
Thanks for notifying. For the moment I'll link the new package :).
