[2010-09-30[ BasKet 2.0 Beta 2 Released

BasKet 2.0 Beta 2 has been released by Matt Rogers. Go get it!

[2010-03-23] BasKet 2.0 Beta 1 Released

The BasKet project is proud to announce the release of version 2.0 beta 1. This version serves as a pre-release version for developers and distributors and should not be considered suitable for a production system. BasKet 2.0 will be a new major release which brings Qt4 and KDE 4 compatibility to BasKet and paves the way for future releases which take advantage of KDE 4 technologies such as Akonadi and Nepomuk. Due to the pervasive nature of these changes, there may be inevitable bugs in some features of the new release. However, the new version is in many ways more stable and robust than previous releases (especially when running on the KDE 4 platform) and users are recommended to switch to the new version when it comes out.

We hope to release version 2.0 within a few months.

Previous versions of BasKet, which depended on KDE 3 libraries, are now considered deprecated and will no longer be maintained.

Hi I have downloaded the sources, compiled and it's working great.
I'm on kubuntu Edgy.

But.

How are you suppoused to embed it into kontact?

It does not show in kontact, and I do nmot find any option to integrate it (neither in kontact or basket preferecnes)

How?

Did you have the right PREFIX then running ./configure?
Just a guess.

In fact I used th ./install script provided with the sources.
It guesssed the prefix, and used /usr
Which I guess is correct in kubuntu...

I experience a grouping error in version 1.0
I can only group elements if the first element is selected.

For example:

exmaple1
example2
example3

I can group example1-3, not not only example2 and 3.

I use Slackware 11.0 and KDE 3.5.4, installed Basket from source.

I'm experiencing the same here, it seems like you can either group all items in a basket or none.

Kubuntu 6.10, KDE 3.5.6, Basket compiled from source

Hi, the dev version seems to have the same problem (at least for me) as 0.6. When ever I put the mouse over the links, it crashes.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I look foward to upgrading from 0.5 once this crash bug is fixed. Until then I'll keep testing what you put out.

Thanks!

By "1.0b" do youo mean "1.0 Beta 3" ?

If yes, then please upgrade to "1.0 RC" because that crash should be fixed there.

If it still isn't fixed in 1.0 RC, then can you send me crash information? Can you start "basket" in a Konsole and tell me what it says?

And if you disable the checkbox "show tooltips in baskets" in the Configure window, does it still crash?

Report

BorgQueen

Yes I'm using the RC release. 1.0RC2.
The crash happens no matter what I do and there is no crash output in the term. It just apologies for the crash. Turning off the tool tips caused a crash as well but the setting did hold. Even without the tool tips it crashes moments after I put the mouse cursor over the notes (to the right side).

Sorry I can't be of more help. Is there a way to compile it with debuging so I can get an output on konsole?

Any plans on Google Notebook integration/synchronization ?

Report

Sebien

No plan for Google Notebook integration. Too much work for quite different applications. BasKet Note Pads can store a whole variety of notes, tag them, arrange them freely... This doesn't quite map with Google Notebook, or any other system.

But there are plans to make a "BasKet Sharing Server" to sync your baskets between several computers and users.

This however ask too much time, too much developers, too much ressources. So do not expect it very soon, unless more developers join the effort.

Basket and GoogNotebook are quite similar. I would say, that GN is a subset of Basket, in terms of functionality.

Anyway even simple plain text/html synchronization between selected GN subjects and one of Basket folders would be great (if its possible of course).

BTW, Are there any open APIs to GN?

Notes are lost with KDE 3.5.6 update in Kubuntu Edgy.

The v0.6 doesn't work now. I have not test the 1b3.

Very nice application, I'm waiting a official deb for Debian/Kubuntu.

Report

I do not see why notes would be lost when upgrading to this version.
There is no reason for that to happen.

Did you used BasKet Note Pads standalone or inside Kontact?

Can you look in ~/.kde/share/apps/basket and tell me what there is in it?
What contains ~/.kde/share/apps/basket/baskets ? Is it empty?
What contains ~/.kde/share/apps/basket/baskets/baskets.xml ? Is it empty or corrupted?
If there is no personnal data, can you send it to me by mail?
Can you run "basket -d" in a konsole and copy/paste to me the content of both the console and the debug window that appears?
My email is on the BasKet Note Pads website.

Are you sure your hard-drive didn't run out of space in the upgrade process? But even with a full hard-drive, BasKet Note Pads should notice that and do not corrupt the data save files.
