Description:

Tellico is a collection manager for keeping track of your books, bibliographies, videos, music, comic books, video games, coins, stamps, trading cards, wines, board games, or any custom items. It supports any number of user-defined fields, of several different types: text, paragraph, list, checkbox, year, URL, tables, images, dates, and combinations.

Tellico imports Bibtex, MODS, RIS, PDF, and CSV and exports to Bibtex, Bibtexml, CSV, and HTML. It offers grouping, view filtering, and searching. Tellico can also import data from Amazon.com and IMDb.com, along with z39.50 servers, CDDB data, audio files, SRU servers, several different websites, and from the Alexandria and GCstars applications.

Note that kde-apps.org is not a support forum. Please sent comments, questions, or bug reports to the Tellico mailing list or the Tellico forum.

2. It's done by a XSL translation.
You can change the xsl used in the template panel of configuration dialog. You can too create your own xsl (or modify an existing), look at /usr/share/apps/bookcase/entry-templates/Fancy.xsl.

To print in Suse 8.2 without errors change line 38 in /opt/kde3/share/apps/bookcase/bookcase-printing.xsl
to xsl:import href="/opt/kde3/share/apps/bookcase/bookcase-common.xsl"/

Very nice looking. The interface is simple and clean. Too bad I don't read books ;)

EndNote funnctionality would be great (get bibliographic data from online libraries and use for citation), one could possibly even use their connection files, look at www.endnote.com for information

There is an item "macro" in the "Collection" menu.

What is its functionnality ?
How use it ?

Thanks for the "export citation" feature !

It should be called Bibtex Macro, I guess. It's only for adding/editing macros for bibtex export from bibliography collections.

Tanks for your answer, but I don't understand how to use it.

Is there an example somewhere ?

It inserts a string command in the bibtex output. See http://nwalsh.com/tex/texhelp/bibtx-5.html The key would be the string macro and the property value would be what it expands to. Then in one of your field values, you can use # to include the macro.

For example, defining a macro as
kde-apps = \url{http://www.kde-apps.org}
and then using kde-apps as a field value.

Heikki Lehväslaiho has a script for fetching info from IMDb for movies and saving it to a Bookcase data file. You can append or merge that file to your existing Bookcase collection. It works really well.

When I try to compile Bookcase (and most other KDE programs) I am told that /usr/X11R6/lib/libGL.la is missing. I am running Mandrakelinux 10.0 with latest NVidia drivers.
I have tried to copy all libGL.*-files from /usr/lib/ to /usr/X11R6/lib/, and then the programs compile fine, but when I shut down X the fonts are totally distorted.

Any suggestions..?

Seems like a really helpful program, but I've got trouble compiling it.
The box is a Debian Stable with KDE3.2.0 and gcc 2.95. The error that i get is:
depmode=gcc /bin/sh ../../../../admin/depcomp \
g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -I. -I../../../.. -I/usr/include/kde -I/usr/share/qt3/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -DQT_THREAD_SUPPORT -D_REENTRANT -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -Wall -W -Wpointer-arith -Wwrite-strings -ansi -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -Wchar-subscripts -O2 -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -fno-common -c -o DB.o `test -f 'DB.cpp' || echo './'`DB.cpp
DB.cpp: In method `void PalmLib::FlatFile::DB::make_record(PalmLib::Record &, const PalmLib::FlatFile::Record &) const':
DB.cpp:604: no matching function for call to `vector::at (unsigned int &) const'
DB.cpp:671: no matching function for call to `vector::at (unsigned int &) const'
make[5]: *** [DB.o] Error 1
If I compile that file using g++-3.0, it compiles fine, but I'have problems with the configure script not detecting qt libs for some reason.
That is trying: CXX=g++-3.0 ./configure --prefix=/usr says it doesn't find the qt libs even if i define --with-qt-libs=/usr/lib/qt3.
After examining config.log I found that i get the following:
/tmp/ccZuyKwH.o: In function `main':
/tmp/ccZuyKwH.o(.text+0xe): undefined reference to `QString::null'
/tmp/ccZuyKwH.o(.text+0x13): undefined reference to `QStyleFactory::create(QString const&)'
/tmp/ccZuyKwH.o(.text+0x20): undefined reference to `QCursor::QCursor[in-charge](int)'
/tmp/ccZuyKwH.o(.text+0x28): undefined reference to `QCursor::~QCursor [in-charge]()'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status

Any ideas on how to solve this problem, with either gcc-2.95 or 3.0?
Thanks very much,
Cirrus

Great app !

I used it for my Bibtex bibliography.

It will be appreciable, if bookcase could display file's url form "file" field as hypertext link as in the "url" field, for example : file://home/me/work/papers/papername.pdf display the file in a viewer when I click it.

An other bonus feature would be to be able to export easily the cite-id : via a dcop call, or directly to a pipe !

I am trying to compile 0.8.3 on my Fedora Core 1 system. The compile fails with this message: libtool: link: `/usr/lib/libGL.la' is not a valid libtool archive' I have also tried to install from the RPM, but it needs libxslt1 which doesn't appear to be available for Fedora. Tried installing the Mandrake RPM, but it conflicts with files from the libxslt RPM that comes with Fedora. Would really like to get your app running on my system....looks great, uses a great file format, looks to be very easy to use and would a useful addition to my system.

Thanks!

NVidia bug, read this page:

The RPM doesn't work since it's specific to Mandrake.

I was astonished by the program and using it for a DB of my articles, when I found something really funny. The program worked much faster when I was online, and it was too sluggish while offline.

Want to know the reason? Hehe ;) It seems the program loads the DTD from the internet everytime you click on an element, and takes around 20-30 seconds to timeout:

error : Resource temporarily unavailable
I/O warning : failed to load external entity "http://periapsis.org/bookcase/dtd/v5/bookcase.dtd"
enson/DTD Bookcase V5.0//EN" "http://periapsis.org/bookcase/dtd/v5/bookcase.dtd

I'm not quite sure if this could be related to the use of KDE from HEAD.

In case you want more info on this I'll be happy to help at #kde-devel on IRC.

Report

That's weird. I guess I need to check some options in libxslt. I did change the DTD to refer to a canonical site, but I didn't realize that it would download it every time.

Color me bumfuzzled.

One way to stop Bookcase from DTD polling is to compile with the --with-xml-catalog switch in the configure script. That's why I hadn't noticed the slowdown myself.

Meanwhile, I'll try to figure out how to disable the DTD parsing altogether.

Ah thanks, I had worked around it temporarilly by replacing the http:// addresss for my /usr/local absolute path.

I'll check that too. Thanks again
