This is completely offtopic, but what fonts are you using in your screenshots? They're beautiful!

I have downloaded the source and used de script install.sh, selected the option "with plugins" and then (after a about 20 sec) it exited with the message "Installation aborted. Good bye."
I give a look at the script, executed the commands manually and everything seems ok know
Why didn't worked the scrit?
Info: runnig Fedora Core 5 and KDE 3.5.3

gives me an error about kde-config not found when installed as user.
Couldn't figure out this problem on gentoo (kde 3.5.3).

Is the service menue availiable as *.desktop files? For an easy install as user-only?

When converting from EPS to any other format, looses too much of resolution. Could it have a resolution option? Nice app. Thanks, Z.

Hello.
I just wanted to ask, where to put the files of Kim, to make it work? The Install script doesn't work. If I start it in konsole, it sais, that it cannot connect to X, and if I start it from Konqueror, it does something, but no result in menu. The Kim menu won't appear. I tried it on images, but nothing. Thanks for the help.

$KDEDIR/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus/

this is the path to store Konqueror's servicemenus; kim too.

You may safely put the `kim*' files into the folder and try to use them.

Make sure that the copied kim* files have the same owner mode and permission values as the other files in the folder. This may be vital.

I tried to create a flash slideshow using KIM and I eventually got it to work however I had a few problems - if anyone can help me fix them?
- The images did not copy into the /images folder
- In the XML file the image filenames were incorrectly listed as images/myfile.jpg.jpg

So overall I had to do 2 extra things:
1. manually copy the files to /images
2. edit the XML file to remove extra .jpg

Any help is appreciated,
thanks for a great tool,
jonny

I really appreciate all service tools you've created. In another post I explained that I use one of my Ark Linux machines as a publishing machine, so I work with pdfs and images a LOT. Between your tools/ servicemenus and the PDF tools, I really get a lot done! Thank you very much.

thats kim is cluttered/bloated:

well, the useless to the certain user features can be excluded by hand(by removing some of the scripts in the /konq/services folder...or so i think)...but i think that its kind of a pain to open konq as root and go and do it by hand..also it should have been great if a certain service menu could be installed only for one user, not for everybody (not everybody uses kim).

I think that nothing is to be removed from kim, because every feature it has is just great. One remark to be made is for its installer (install.sh) which gives you 3 options and it doesnt work on a slackware distro.I think that more work can be done in the install script.
It will be great if the user could just choose which features to be installed with checkboxes. :)

Nevertheless I got the error you had too, the KIMmenu is available (under actionsmenu) when right clicking on a picture in konqueror. I tried resizing a selection of files and it works.
Hope it works for you too!

Thanks! Absolutely right, it works fine and I hadn't noticed.

Very nice tool, mucho thanks to the dev.

Can't work out how to add rotate left to the toolbar - it's not available in the addable list - rotate right is already appearing though

You can't have a X connection in being su.
It's a graphic installer !!
cd path/ (where is kim)
sudo ./install.sh
password: (user password)

It won't be the user password if you've changed some options, in this case try root passwd.

It will be the same for all the graphical application working on a directory where user doesn't have the writting right.

The other way is to choose the non graphical login in kdm and log at root
then you type startx
Try this way if the other doesn't succed.

It's a wonderfull apps !
No need to use imagemagick again !!

I am a kubuntu user and really wanted this. I could not get it to install so I created a new install.sh e.g. myinstaller.sh and made it executable.
I then edited it pasting in only section 2 from the original install.sh.
I then replaced all occurences of $kdeinsdir with /usr
I saved the file and then ran it as sudo e.g. sudo ./myinstaller.sh

It worked fine and now I am happily using KIM. It would be good if this was available by apt.
Thanks, jonny

kim is available for dapper as pkg konq-kim:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/cgi-bin/search_packages.pl?keywords=konq-kim&searchon=names&subword=1&version=all&release=all

I'm sure it's not hard to backport
if you know a bit about debian pkging

Kim has been in Kubuntu for quite a time now.

To install it, simply type :

"sudo apt-get install konq-kim"

Cheers,

Raphaël

P.S: Charles, can you add this to the description, so people don't try to install manually on Ubuntu/Kubuntu please?
