if /usr/include/ksquirrel-libs/ doesn't exist, you didn't install ksquirrel-libs correctly. That's why KSquirrel can't find development files.

[Now as far as I know aRts is for sound. What functionality will I lose with an image viewer??]

KSquirrel doesn't use arts, configure checks for it automatically.

Hi
The actual error I am getting is
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for ksquirrellibs_CFLAGS...
checking for ksquirrellibs_LIBS...
configure: error: Ksquirrel-libs development file (.pc) is not installed. Please install ksquirrel-libs first.
But I have ksquirrel-libs installed in /usr/local
I made a symlink to /usr/include
still no go

Try

# export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig

before configuring and compiling KSquirrel.

I'm maintaining this package for ArchLinux, but am not able to update to 0.6.2 due to same error as above, despite changes in --prefix, and other config variables.
What file (probably the .pc file) is ksquirrel explicit looking for and how can I force configure to look at a specific location for it, as all changes seem not to have any effect....

Also forcing ksquirrel-libs to the correct location with --prefix=/usr does not have any effect

Thanks

Hello,

I like that tool, I had a very old version for SuSE and I try to compile an actual one since a long time but it does not work.
Compiling the library on OPENSUSE 10 is no problem (./configure.gnu!) but allways the make of the main programm fails.

What can I do to get it compiled on OPENSUSE ?

My problems start with:
sq_filter.cpp:24:28: error: sq_imagefilter.h: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden (file not found)

Best regards, Norbert

Thank you!
The creation of packages for Debian Unstable for both the libs and the app works very well.

Copyright issue

If the small 16x16 filetype icons are taken from ACDSee for Windows, they are copyrighted. Yes, they are small, but they are still copyrighted and they need to be changed.

Ideas for this KSquirrel

Why not try WarrenView (works with Wine, similar and very good), also
GLiv.

Hi.

They are NOT taken from ACDSee. I took an IDEA from ACDSee, and based my icons on "thumbnail.png" icon from Crystal theme by (C) Everlado.

JPEG200 as well as most image formats in ksquirrel-libs is supported since 0.6.0-pre-?. If your version is 0.5.0, JPEG2000 is not supported.

Hi, a stupid/curious question from a non-developer. Is there any technical problem that prevents to write a kimageio (sp? name?) wrapper around your image format plugins so all KDE apps can display those additional formats too? I assume kimageio is slower! Better slow that a black frame or "can't dispaly" dialog ;) Achim

then all image codecs will become a part of KDE, and it's really bad. That's why all image codecs and image processing filters are available as single (and pure C++) packages: ksquirrel-libs and fmt_filters.

KImageIO interface also doesn't support decoding of scanlines :( In 0.7.0 I plan to create threaded decoding (which was initially written in early 0.2.2, but dead :) ) with cycle-breaking mechanism (like in ACDSee).

Hi, other imageviewers like gwenview, showimage support already kipi- plugins. Ksquirrel would gain much more image manipulation features if it would support kipi-plugins too. For more infos see http://extragear.kde.org/apps/kipi/ All the hosting app has to do is to pass the plugins a URL, or a list of URLs ;) Achim

Hi. I thought about it much time ago. But there are some problems. Kipi plugins won't use ksquirrel-libs. Many image formats won't been handled :( Anyway, currently I don't have much time to work with KIPI, any help is welcome :)

Report

ach

Hi, well, there's also the other way round: (danger ;) every kipi-plugins is free to use whatever libs they like. There also no need to add every kipi-plugin to the kipi-plugins tarball so (danger, danger ;): If you or someone else find some time and interest you can add a kipi-interface to your 'plugins' which allows all other kipi aware apps to use the your plugins. Plugins are all about sharing. Achim P.S. If it's not already possible that every plugins announces that image types it can handle, it can be implemented. AFAIK the API will be extented to allow delayed loading of plugins. So specify your requirement on kde-imaging ml and maybe the next API has every- thing you need.

They should be created automatically by UIC from .ui files. Probably "configure" didn't find UIC and MOC.

I compiled and installed the latest pre-release of this program...9 or whatever. Anyway, it seemed to go well..I can open the program. However, no thumbnails of images load..and when I click on an image, it won't do anything. No error...no nothing. The image wont open in the viewer.

Any suggestions? :P.

I'm on SuSE 10 and compiled from source.
