SuSE 9.0,
"./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3"
shows no error but "make" errors out
apparantly looking for aclocal-1.4, I've got a /usr/share/aclocal-1.8/ directory and /usr/bin/aclocal-1.8
I can see automake problems on the horizon (once this is solved)

Any Ideas

maybe aclocal&&autoconf&&automake before ./configure ?

or Distclean/RebuildAll from KDevelop

Could anyone perhaps tell me what the advantage is of using OpenGL for displaying still images?

The only one thing I know is possibility of very fast and smooth scaling of the image. But there are many disadvantages like image size limit - usually max 1024x1024 in modern cards. Unless you do tricks with dividing the image into several textures. The other problem is probably significant increase of amount of time needed to load the image and create the GL texture. I need to test this program cause I am curious how it works.

works fine (glTexImage2D takes some msec. :) ) even with big images, but I am broken how to show image line-by-line.

If I'm not all mistaken, most modern graphic chips support at least 4096x4096 texture resolution...
