This plasma applet is really amazing! It was exactly that what I was looking for.

I have added some improvements/fixes:
* German translation
* Possibility to hide completed tasks
* Correct version number in the desktop file

But why do you don't add my german translation that I have send you?

I have fixed the link. - Aug 28 2009
The path /home/USERNAME/bin is correct. If a normal user installs software thats the place for bin files.

But as soon as KDE4 has the admin mode included I will add an option to install the service menus to the system paths. - Jan 03 2009
Which Distro are you using?

Have you run cmake in the right directory (servicemenu not servicemenu/src)?

Maybe it helps if you install automake1.9.

Done and thanks for the hint. - Dec 16 2008
I think I have found the problem. With version 0.1.3 the download function should work. - Dec 15 2008
it seems that the package kdelibs5-dev is missing.

sudo apt-get install kdelibs5-dev - Dec 15 2008
Can you try to install the "Extract And Compress KDE4" service menu (because this menu should work without problems)

If the installation doesn't work can you check if the downloaded tar file is in the directory /home/USERNAME/.kde4/share/apps/kcm_sm/downloads.

Thanks - Dec 14 2008
Hi Alex1us,

thanks for your feedback. In the version 0.1.2 this two problems should be fixed. - Dec 14 2008

This is very great plasmoid! Especially the effects are very nice.

I have two suggestions:

1. If I maximize I a window it overlaps the panel. Is it possible to change that?

2. The way of adding an application is not so nice. Maybe it would be easier if you would use the application chooser instead of the file chooser. - Jul 30 2009

i have done your proposal. But unfortunately there is no change. I have tried also to install the ubuntu 0.2.2 package, but with no success, too. - Jul 08 2008
Thanks for your quick reponse. I have set the DefaultBackend to apt and i have run the following commands:

make distclean
./autogen.sh --prefix=/home/xadras/PackageKit-0.2.2/pkbin/ --with-security-framework=polkit --with-default-backend=apt --enable-apt --enable-dummy --enable-local --enable-tests --enable-gtk-doc
make
su
make install

but there is no change:

packagekitd

- cannot continue, backend invalid

Hi dantti,

your programm looks really great, but unfortunately it doesnt run on my system (Debian sid with kde from experimentall).

The compiling and installation of packagekit 2.2 and kpackagekit was running without problems. But if I click on "Add and Remove Software" the application crashes. Maybe its a packagekit problem. If i run the command packagekitd as root i got the following output:

TI:05:45:21 TH:0x807a3e8 FI:pk-main.c FN:main,266
- cannot continue, backend invalid

> Given you've packaged it for Debian sid, I'm assuming it just uses apt-get on the backend for all its package management functions?

Yes, for the install and remove of packages the program uses direct the debian command apt-get.

> just have one tiny complaint: The left column (Categories) doesn't honor the color scheme's setting for "Alternate background in lists," which makes it hard to use with color schemes that use light test.

I will try to fix this problem.

> Any plans on extending it to the point of Adept Installer (i.e., so every package that has a .desktop file is listed)?

Actually it works in the same way like adept. If you want to add programs go to folder /usr/share/kappstarter.

If you think there are missing programs you can also post them here and will add them. - Apr 14 2008

a can not install message!

One my computer the install function of Gedebi doesn't work for any package. Please try to install kdpkg with the dpkg command on the console. - Mar 18 2008
>Hmm, not all linux users are on Debian

Yes, but this a program for debian and debian based distros.

>python-kde is also installed with KDE :-)

You can install kde without python-kde.

>They don't take much space.

Just the package python-kde needs 50mb. E.g. the distro sidux doesn't support python out of the box.

In addition imho it's an advantage to use the debian core tools. - Mar 13 2008
thank you. - Mar 12 2008
>python dependencies are not disavantages, why to systematically put them on the negative side?

You can save space and use the debian core tools (like dpkg and apt-get)

>Your app have other dependencies, like a compiler or the KDE libs, and you don't speak about them.

If you download the binary debian package you don't need the compiler. And if you have installed KDE you have the kde libs already installed.

But in general this point is not so important. - Mar 12 2008
