Six
Board
Description:

Six plays Hex, a game with very simple rules and deep tactical complexity. Two players, one with black and one with white pieces, alternate placing marks on a rhombic board of hexagonal cells. Black's goal is to connect the two opposite black sides of the board with black pieces. White's goal is to connect the white sides of the board with white pieces.

The link that supposedly leads to a debian file just gives you the source tarball. I suppose I could compile myself, but then that would require 3 more seconds of work :)

Hello,

I just watched the deleted scenes on the DVD of "A Beautiful Mind". This game was invented by John Nash while he was a student at Princeton, because he was frustrated with the mathematical imperfections of Go.

Thought it was pretty interesting, and it reminded me of this!

It seems that Nash wasn't the only John with a claim of fame :-).

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hex_(board_game) :

The game was invented by the Danish mathematician Piet Hein in 1942, and independently by the mathematician John Nash in the late 1940s. It became known in Denmark under the name Polygon; Nash's fellow players at first called the game Nash. According to Martin Gardner, some of the Princeton University students also referred to the game as John, because it was often played on the hexagonal tiles of bathroom floors. In 1952 Parker Brothers marketed a version. They called their version "Hex" and the name stuck.
