Thank you for this beautiful and practical tuning software.
In relation to it, and with the hope I can help to make it better, I would like to report the result of an experiment:

Two identical piano A440 strings were identically tuned (no beats when played simultaneously). The frequency reading given by K3Guitune was 441.5 for each of them.
Then, I lowered the tension of one of the strings VERY slowly (the other string was muted and unchanged).
The frequency reading jumped down from 441.5 to 447.6 Hz (about a 4Hz drop).
Then I compared this string with its twin A440 string, kept at the initial frequency: when played simultaneously, the beats per second (initially zero) had increased only to something like 0.2 Hz. This means the frequency of the detuned string had dropped just 0.2 Hz, a lot less than the 4 Hz indicated by the program.
The conditions of the test were clean (a silent room, all the other strings were muted, and nice waveforms were displayed on screen).

I wonder how the program determines frequency, and what the "fading" plotted waveform represents.

Best regards,
MDM

Accuracy has never been the best point of K3Guitune but this is really bad...

did you try it using 1.0 or an older version which used Schmidt triggering?

Please pick up a debian (unstable) package here:

http://kwelltext.de/k3guitune__1.0-1_i386.deb

Made with and only tested under Debian SID (SIDUX - http://sidux.com ).

Enjoy !

Hi tried to compile it again and I still get the same errors. I'm on Debian 3.1, and KDE 3.3.2.

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.1) (headers and libraries) not found.

I have all the devel packages installed. Is there anything else you can think of? Have any other Debian 3.1 users encountered the same problem?

Thanks

I was able to compile it on kubuntu dapper. Try this:

./configure --prefix=/usr --with-qt-includes=/usr/include/qt3 --with-qt-libraries=/usr/share/qt3/lib

Could you please e-mail me the config.log file that's placed in the source tree after you've run the configure script? Perhaps that contains some clue as to why this happens.

Of course, not a problem. I'm start fresh and send the complete term output as well. Thanks for your help.

Hi it keeps asking for old libs.

checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.1) (headers and libraries) not found.

I have the oldest libs I can find. Perhaps its time to update the app?

Thanks,

The Borg Queen

It's not asking for old libs, it's just asking for libs _no older than_ Qt 3.0.1. If it fails to find Qt, you should probably install a qt-devel or qt-dev package (And perhaps a kdelibs-devel or kdelibs-dev package too).

Hi,

Those packages are installed. Its how I compile other apps needing those files.

Something is wrong else were.
