you could consider also to support djvu files, since djvu is very good for fax images, even better than tif in most cases. You could probably take some code from the existing qt viewer program. I forgot its name...

I'm not sure that djvu format must be integrated in QFaxReader...

Not must. But believe me, I am using djvu a lot and can tell you that it has usually half the size of a PDF with embedded TIFF in medium/low quality black and white which is exactly what fax images are. Plus it is completely free/gpl. You can ignore other djvu-formats like those with higher color depth. Actually djvu is one format with 3 different compression algorithms, each for another situation.

Thanks for your great app!
I'd like to propose a little feature request: Could you please implement the possibility to view sff-files? My avm-fritz card saves faxes in this format. You could use the command / program sfftobmp to convert sff-files to the tif-format: on the command-line, it's just sfftobmp -t *.sff

Support for this file format will be added in future. Send to me some sff files (in QFaxReader homepage you can found my email address).

If I were you, I'd join the kpdf development team and implement the FaxReader as a 'Generator' (the internal rendering engines in kpdf). You'll have lots of benefits using that framework! Btw, nice program, have fun!

For the moment I don't want to make depend QFaxReader with KDE libraries. Maybe in the future.

about this, any plan to port it to the windows world?
and for kde integration, i partly agree with you, now this program works without problems on other DE, and probably other platforms too, maybe there could be a fork, with a common codebase, but that operates in different envrionments, the standalone Qt version, and maybe a kpdf generator, as suggested above.
just my 2¢

I don't known if on win32 platform exists audience. However, a port to win32 may be possible when I rewrite QFaxReader for QT-4 (which come with opensource edition for win32).
