Description:

Fotowall is a fun tool for creating graphics by mixing some of your favorite pictures in a nice and smooth high resolution composition.

Check out the new homepage on:
http://www.enricoros.com/opensource/fotowall/

The interface is intuitive:
- just push the 'help' or 'tutorial' buttons to get started

To build from source (make sure that Qt 4.5+ development packages are installed):
- download
- unpack (tar xjpvf Fotowall-0.9.tar.bz2)
- cd fotowall-0.9
- qmake-qt4 or qmake (this depends on your linux distribution. we depend on Qt 4.5+)
- make
- make install (or "cp fotowall /usr/local/bin")
and to execute, just type "fotowall".

PosteRazor is IN!. Thanks to Alessandro Portale and to the good framework (Qt4, by QtSoftware) we're using, it was possible to merge the 2 stunning Fotowall and PosteRazor opensource projects into 1 useful program!
Good done, opensource ;-)

Many thanks to all the people that contribute to FotoWall, expecially to Tanguy Arnaud and Alessandro Portale.

Just amazing and stupidly simple (stupidly simple in the best positive way of course) so far that I tried it!!!! :)

I also have a suggestion now that I read about the CD Covers...
One thing I really miss, is that when I burn an audio cd with K3B, then I can`t print a cover with the songs I already burned.

It would be nice if a program (like this one) could read a .k3b audio project file (k3b projects are stored in xml format) and extract the information of the songs in the playlist and print a track list. It could be even configurable. For example to print only the song name and length of the song, or print song name and artist etc.

- Picture will move in 3D (along all axis) in the next version (already implemented in my branch).

- Layouts will be saved in XML instead of the binary format. So, compatibility will not be broken at each version !

- Nice idea for the CD cover. I'll look into this (later, as everybody, time is passing too quick).

- There will be even nicer features, but I'll keep you in abeyance !

Speaking about ideas: since FotoWall has an embedded CD cover designer, wouldn't be nice to rely on CDDB/freedb servers to retrieve tracks names and album title?
Second idea, a free hand pencil to draw something choosing different colors.

P.S.: Satisfying all the features in the wishlist will turn this application in something more complicated than GIMP.

Hi guys

Thanks for this piece of software, works fine and does amazing results !

How about moving the pics in 3D space, arround three axes ?

Like the french guy who wrote SMiLE (slideshow for DVD) did it in his software.

I use your fotowall on a daily basis and enjoy it a lot :)

Keep up the good work !

Hi

is there any activity for new version?

Source code in svn or something else?

Here my favorites for new features:
- Chance to fix aspect ratio for wall paper
- option dialog for some global settings
* buttons maybe seen without touching with mouse
*
- save for some templates
- different frames or no frame
- text in picture frames (default to some format string!)
- text with 2 or more lines extend frame around picture
- text to left or right or middle ... auto linebreak

- xml format for layout-files (maybe in future)
- any discription of actual layout format (.lay) files?

What about that project in google code?

This program is very nice.

Please help me understand:

How can I create a wallpaper 1280x1024 for my screen 1280x1024?

Is there a fullscreen modus?

Using the export functionality you can create the wallpaper, but since we preserve the aspect ratio things may get distorted.
We already have a solution for this ;-) That will come.

Hello

I really love your app. There are a few suggestions:

- Different Borders (including no borders)
- Title place anywhere
- Possibility to use picture as background
- Choose font type size and colour
- Possibility to add watermark effect to fotos
- ...

I agree to what MayC23 suggested.

I would also like to add another request:
Layer options (so that you can decide which picture should be on top etc.)

I'm running Kubuntu 7.10 and everything works, including the red and green dots.
However, there's still one thing that I can't get to work: the function for the mouse wheel?
I've tried clicking it (the wheel) and using the scroll, nothing happens.

Hopefully the above suggestions for a future release will make everything slighty better ;)
I'll definitely keep my eyes open for the 0.3 release!!

This is a great program, please keep up the good work mate :)
Thanks a lot!

Compiled without a hitch on Kubuntu 7.10. Having some problems, though. I can change the background colors (neat, btw!), I can drag in photos, I can caption photos and insert the title, but I can't resize or rotate photos (with the green and red buttons). Unfortunately, when running fotowall from the terminal, there is no debug output for me to give you! I'd like to help in whatever way I can, but you might have to hold my hand through it :)

best regards-
