Using Fedora 4; GDB: "GNU gdb Red Hat Linux (6.3.0.0-1.21rh)" (gdb-6.3.0.0-1.21.i386.rpm).

"kdbg myapp" gives error dialog: "GDB exited unexpectedly."

However, "gdb myapp" works fine.

Any ideas?

It is a bug in the gdb build shipped with Fedora 4. Rebuild gdb from source and the problem goes away. Specifically "info line main" crashes that version of gdb.

...are so importatnt? When options like LD_BIND_NOW=1 will be persistent? It's crazy we need to enter it every time. And gdb (6.x) crashes for every two sessions.

LD_BIND_NOW=1 need no longer be set; gdb does it the right way now.

kdevelop already have a debugger.

I personnaly like to use both. from time to time... kdevelop can be a bit big on a small computer. especialy for a quick task.

kdbg with vim,gcc,bash,etc. is great.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK BUD !!!
kdbg always been great and just get better and better.

- Display QString values in programs based on Qt5.

- Show truncated structure values in the popup of the Expression window.

- Fix that the View menu entries can show and hide docking windows.

KDbg 2.9.0 11 months ago

- A brand new application icon.

- There is now a command to detach from a program being debugged. Thanks to Daniel Black.

- Pointing on a variable shows a value in a popup in more cases. Thanks to Max Tomilov.

- C++11 keywords are highlighted. Thanks to Michael Hansen.

- Line breaks of status bar messages produced by GDB are now trimmed to avoid that the text is only visible partially. Fix by Gilles Allard.

- (Action and application) icons are installed in an application neutral location because the launcher menu of modern KDE desktops does not show the icon otherwise.

- Fixed a typo in the pretty-printer of std::vector<>.

Bug fixes

- Source file names with international characters are handled better.

- When an executable is loaded, GDBs of different vintage print different text, some of which were treated as error text incorrectly, leading to failed debugging sessions. More of these texts are now ignored.

- Variables pointing to some global variable lacked the ability to be expanded with recent GDBs.

- Parsing of string values residing in global variables was fixed.
