I don't understand how to make hierarchal notes; e.g.:

TITLE
--subtitle
----item
----item
--subtitle
----item

I see it in the example basket, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to do it...

it is simple, select the note for depper item, clik on the paperclip and so the same after selecting [-] notes and it will do what you want

Love this proggie--but wonder if it can be started minimized? It always opens a window at boot...

If you're using KDE Autostart feature, use the command "basket --start-hidden" or "basket -h" to launch BasKet Note Pads (instead of "basket" alone).

In older versions of basket I was able to use ctrl s to save to a text file for text only baskets. Has that feature been removed? If so, can it be reinstated for text only baskets? I keep a lot of my development notes, howtos and the like in basket (my mind mapper really), and often export them to text to share. It was a very useful thing.

It's still there.

It's in Note -> Save in a File...

But as notes are now rich-text ones, it will save them in HTML, instead of only plain text. They will still be readable by other people, tough.

Or you can select one or several notes and copy (or press Ctrl+C): paste it in email, a new text file you created manually... It allows to export several notes at once to text.

The last ressort is Basket -> Export -> HTML Web Page...
It will export the whole basket in a nicely presented web page you can upload or send by mail.

WOW! I haven't had the chance to build the new version for a long time. I finally got around to it and it was like receiving a birthday gift or the like. Its GREAT! Unbelievably useful.

My fav features is the backup capability and the organizational flexibility.

Thank you very much!

I've forgotten that I've one question. I were looking for password protection in each menu, but I didn't find it. According to previous comments, it should be in Basket menu. I have gpg and Basket 1.0.2. What's the problem?

Hi,

I would ,like to request some new features!
The first is syntax highlighting! it Is very useful to fast reviewing stored snipets of code.

Second are templates. It is useful if you are making logs of your work and every new element has some standard text in head of the note or something like that.

Third is the creation date of the newly created note. It is useful if you are making logs and you want to look back when they were created.

I hope this seems useful to you guys!!

make some comments!

It will be great, if programm will be able to copy information from sites to baskets - for example:

I saw some interesting picture and pressed CTrL+c combination to copy it and Ctrl+V in basket to paste. The same thing about URL's - it will be great if program could copy links with just thow actions.

I love this app! Thanks!!

I have been using it for tracking research notes for my masters thesis. It's not perfect for that purpose but it's the best I've found.

When I'm done doing my literature research, I'll want to organize these notes. kdissert is perfect for that, although it's not very useful for recording research notes.

A great feature would be the ability to export the notes into a format I could import into kdissert.

Thanks!!!

I love a lot this app that I find very helpful for my works.

Recently I've installed on my amd64 the new kubuntu 7.04 and all worked fine.
Then I've installed Basket that went into kmail (really very nice!).
But since then the check mail command in kmail do nothing...

could someone suggest me how to deal with this?

thanks all

A great app, but why is there no unicode support? It's pretty useless to people who speak languages that don't use the latin alphabet.

Hi I absolutely love Basket 1.0. It is insanely useful for managing random thoughts and findings.

I also use Basket for creating unordered Tasks. But I miss a format option for strike-through. You can strike through whole notes, but not parts of a note.
A button like "underline" in the toolbar for strike-through would be great.

Thank you very much for Basket, it is great and visually stunning ;)

If you use the installer script to install version 1.0.1, and don't have certain development libraries installed, the configure script warnings will scroll off the screen, basKet will compile and install, but without support for encryption (the message "Encryption not supported by this version..." may be seen when trying to open an encrypted basket), so any previously encrypted baskets will be unavailable. If this happens, run the configure script and install the package(s) indicated.

I love this app, but there is one issue for me, namely, that the "auto-save" feature, as nice as it is, makes the CPU usage very high. If I'm typing quickly in a basket, I see 30% CPU usage when the system is otherwise idle. If I'm doing something else---say, compiling in the background---then, BasKeT can become very, very slow, much slower than I type.

It seems as if BasKeT is saving too often. I wonder whether it wouldn't be possible to wait until there is some kind of pause in typing or whatever and save them. Yes, you might lose a character or two, but it would make the program much more responsive.
