I've been using Kshowmail for quite a while in Fedora 5, 6, & 7 and it works great. Recently I installed Kubuntu on another machine and tried to install the Debian package, but got dependency errors. Then I found it on my menu and it works fine, but there is a glitch; when I try to use any of the package managers in Kubuntu they tell me Kshowmail is a 'broken package' and won't proceed with anything else until it uninstalls it, and it won't let me de-select it for uninstall. Any workaround for this?
Thanks,
Mike

Sorry, I'm not familiar with Kubuntu.

Here are some links which could help you:

Of course you can use the tarball to install it from the sources at last.

It works perfect with my gmail account ^_^

But it only gets 250 headers.

I don't know if this is a issue from gmail or from KShowmail.

Bye.

I don't know. But Goggle says on this website gmail also provides POP3 access. If this is according to the standard, it should works.

I've been using kshowmail daily for a long time now. I don't know of any other program that allows me to check my email and delete unwanted ones without downloading everything or having my regular email client on as well. However, today I am faced with a problem. My dsl provider is sbcglobal. Today they sent me another notice informing me they are upgrading there system. Now everything is going to be encrypted via ssl. This is a good thing and the new settings including new port numbers work fine with kmail. But kshowmail does not allow for ssl encryption !!! Is there any way you can add this functionality to your program ? I don't know how much longer they (sbcglobal) will allow me to use the old pop settings but for now it's still working.

Thanks.

P.S. I really would not like to have to go without this program It is one of the most important email security tools in my arsenal.. A must have. Period. :-)

Thank you. I'll be happy to test out any development version that includes ssl.

I'm already working on ssl support. This and a revised filter are my main topics for version 3.3. I hope we can release it in October or November.
Maybe we release a unstable version with ssl earlier. Please look at Sourceforge on occasion.

Hi, just upgraded and lost my settings. Easy enough to redo but I was wondering. Is it supposed to do that or is it a bug?

PS I like the improvements. Nifty feed back feature.

I have moved the settings of the accounts to the configuration file provided by KDE.
Sorry, I forgot to announce this.

You should consider making a replacement for the old kbiff application... with customizeable notifications and so on.

Some of the notifications could include more details of the messages waiting to be read (like your current screenshot shows).

Happy hacking :)
