Hi there,

The first and last subnets are unusable because:
- Network address of the first is the same as a network address, so it can be confusing
- Broadcast address of the last subnet is the same as the entire network

(sorry for my english)

Somebody told me that it woud be better if the "subnet bits" label and the "number of subnets" label were switched ( or flipped together, I'm not sure about the right english word :). This way the user would choose the number of subnets he wants, and then ksubnet would tell him how many subnets bits are needed.

What do you think of this ?

I'll add the option, but I don't understand why we should not allow these 2 subnets, they work fine as well. Is it in a RFC or something ?

That's because old devices can not handle 1 bit subnets.

True, but sometimes, those two unusable IPs are nice to be known. Some settings, for instance, in our network dhcp database requires the *full* subnet, with host and broadcast address. It's stupid, I know, but we do.

So, perhaps instead of not showing those, maybe just mark them somehow to denote they are unusable.

you are permitting 1-bit subnets, and you don't remove the 2 "unusable" subnets that afaik are the one with all the bits of the prefix equal to zero or to one (this excludes 1-bit subnets to be created).

Fix this and can be more useful.
