Hi! I've been using netcfgGUI for some days now, and its a very useful tool, though it has some bugs:

- The encryption type is stored in capital letters (WPA, WEP) instead of (wpa, wep) which doesn't work (at least with netcfg 2.5)
- The signal strength is normalized to 70%, so I had to multply the quality by an 0.7 factor, to get it normalized to 100%

Thanks for this awesome program :D

Hi, i'm trying NetcgfGUI but i've a strange problem because it displays a signal of only 5% even if my netbook is in front of my router, is it a bug or a my problem? Thanks

Hi!
First of allthanks for the great app! However, I have a couple of problems with it.
First of all when I create a new profile, it writes the protection in the configuration file as "WPA" or "WEP". Unfortunately those do not work, as it should be "wpa" and "wep" (lowercase). I'm not a programmer, but it should be easy to fix.
Another bug in the profile editor shows when I select the IP manually. Even if I leave the "broadcast" field empty, it gets written in the configuration. Deleting the "broadcast" word from my file makes my connection work.
Also, in netcfg 2.2.0 and later, there is support for ethernet-iproute and wireless-dbus connection methods. They will become the new standard, so it would be a nice choise to have in the editor.
Thank you very much, finally I have a (quite) easy way to manage my connections!

Hi, this's a nice project, i like it.
But i'm using a cabled connection too. Why don't implement the control for the non-wired connections?

Thanks for your feedback. It is a general netcfg2 GUI so you can activate ethernet profiles as well as wifi profiles alike. Well, I maybe focused on wifi because im basically using it, but i didnt forgot ethernet profiles ;)

thanks to all :)
version 0.3 was compiled on static-installed wireless tools version 30-pre7 so it will work no matter wich wireless tools version you have installed, well it shouldn't be to old...

You need a button to bring the interface up, otherwise scanning is impossible. The only way you can scan is if you're already connected.

Hi
I'd really like to test your programm, is there a chance to port it for wireless tools v.3 ?

Or has anyone an idea how to run it under v.3. I get the following when I try to start it:

./netcfgGUI: error while loading shared libraries: libiw.so.29: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Great stuff! I've been using ArchAssistant, but thought it tried to do a little too much -- this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for. As far as WPA configuration is concerned, maybe you could pull the WPA config stuff from ArchAssistant and build upon it.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you develop, keep up the good work!
