A fix for the encryption status is planned for the next version. Actually, the link nucleas gave for a fedora package already has it. Look for version 0.5.1-2 I think.

The link quality bug is new to me, but I see what's going on there and have already started working on it. Thanks for reporting those!

Just installed knemo, Gentoo has this in their overlay.

Thanks for porting this! It works the same as before.

Do you think to also migrate this to plasma? The system monitor graphs are looking good...

Also, a long standing request... Maybe the color of the icons can be changed to reflect the network traffic? Red/yellow/green/black

Thanks for your work!

First, sorry about the delayed response.

Right now, those are both low priorities for me, compared to some of the other stuff that I need to take care of.

In fact, I'll probably first try the net load bars (also in the TODO) and see how that goes. I don't know when I'll get to it though.

As for the plasma widget, are you just looking for a souped up version of KDE's "System Monitor - Network" graph?

Report

Hi!

I know these are low priority :)

Just wanted to write these down...

Yes, there is a system monitor widget, but it does not work for dynamic interfaces (ppp), it does not hide the widget when interface is not connected/available, and more...

Also, having two application poll the network vars waste system and power resources...

So what I think is that we need one application that provide all... And as knemo provides the most functionality (dynamic interfaces, status, menu and commands, statistics) I think that it should be simple to somehow show the state of the load.

Just a thought...

Thanks!

Is would be great if You could add text with current UL/DL speed instead of icon. Just like in http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php/KNetStats?content=16264 - there's a selection graph/icon/text. Is it hard to achieve? Actually, that's the reason I haven't switched to knemo yet.

I'm not sure how difficult it would be, but I'll look into it. I have to get back to work on KNemo, anyway.

Would you mind sending me a screenshot of the tray text? The kde-apps page doesn't show that.

Sorry about that. It'll be fixed in the next release.

For now, you can just install wireless-tools-devel and reconfigure.

Thanks. Event notification works now.
But what about saving window positions?
Patch "Fix the config dialog so it preserves our new position and size settings" fixes only saving of configuration window position, but window with interface information, plotter and statistics windows are still goes to the screen bottom after several opening and closing.

Ah! I see what you mean now. Each time a dialog appears, it's slightly lower than it was last time.

I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the port. I was really sad when HagbardCeline said that he wouldn't port KNemo to KDE4.

Now, if i may suggest one thing, would be great to place the KNemo monitor icons in /usr/share/apps/knemo/actions (like the previous versions) instead of /usr/share/apps/knemo/pics. This is because on the /pics directory i can't replace those icons when making a new icon theme (ie, the icons on $HOME/.kde4/share/icons/[icon_theme] don't overwrite the /pics icons).

Thanks again.

Correction: it's not /usr/share/apps/knemo/actions but /usr/share/apps/knemo/icons/oxygen/22x22/actions

Actually, I think the "pics" dir is the standard place for such icons.

You can override icon themes by dropping your icons in $KDEHOME/share/apps/knemo/pics. I know because it works for me ;-) Sometimes, though, I noticed that the icons installed under $KDEHOME didn't immediately take precedence. This turned out to be an issue related to KDE's icon cache. I just deleted the cache, and the $KDEHOME icons appeared the next time I ran knemo.

Also worth noting: the upcoming 0.5.1 will support additional user-installed custom icon themes. They will magically appear in the config dialog the next time you run it.

"Actually, I think the "pics" dir is the standard place for such icons."

I dont know if it's the standard. What i know is there are apps that use the /pics and others that use the /icons.

"You can override icon themes by dropping your icons in $KDEHOME/share/apps/knemo/pics. I know because it works for me ;-)"

Of course you can :)
But if you put the icons (lets say 22x22 icons) on /pics, you will get a 22x22 icons only. That means that if you what a 16x16 or 32x32 systray icons, they look ugly.

Now, if you put the 16x16 icons on /icons/oxygen/22x22/actions/, the 22x22 icons on icons/oxygen/16x16/actions, etc, they will look good, no mather the eight of the systray.

There's other think: if you make an icon pack for kde4 and want to overwrite the knemo icons, you just have to place the new look icons on $HOME/.kde4/share/icons/[icon_theme]/[SizexSize]/actions. Now if the knemo icons are on /pics, you can't overwrite those icons when using a new icon theme.

Anyway, good job on porting KNemo. :)

Since KNemo does its own icon theming, I still feel pretty strongly that it should remain completely separate from any system icon theme. But you've given me a bit to think about, especially regarding icon size. For now, I'll add this to my mental TODO list and see if I can come up with something that can make us both happy.

Incidentally, every KDE systray icon that I have ever seen is 22x22. How are you able to change their size in the tray?

Report

Eldarion

I think the kde 4.2 systray icons are non-resizeable but i hope they will resize in kde 4.3. So you probably should keep your idea until the 4.3 release :)
