Komposé provides a fullscreen view of all your tasks and/or virtual desktops where every window is represented by a scaled screenshot of it's own.
0.5 now features support for the Composite and Damage extensions (disabled by default, enable it in the preferences), however with the current state of graphics drivers XOrg may be awfully slow (or even crash sometimes) when enabling the Composite extension.
So blame me for your bad gfx drivers :)

0.5.3
- well, 0.5.2 didn't show plain and tiled backgrounds right... here we go
- updated author's email addy
0.5.2
- Nicer layouting (less grid-like)
- ADD: Icons for different views (thanks to Bill Kendrick)
- FIX: no more debug out if compiled normally (qDebug() to kdDebug())
- some code cleanups
- Remove flicker on desktop widget mouseover
- Added the ability to show the currently activated Desktop number on the systray icon (thanks to Debajyoti Bera)
- get rid of KRootPixmap
- Autoactivate when mouse moves on to the screen edge
0.5.1
-Hot corners delay controls whether Komposis started and not when it's started :)
-imlib2 error message added to configure script
-Fixed "if a kompose window (prefs, about) is open, you are stuck"
-Added german translation (thanks to Thomas Fischer)
0.5:
-Composite support to take screenshots without raising windows
-Damage support for live-updates of windows
-major refactoring for a cleaner design
-new View Type (current desktop)
-activate when mouse moves in one of the screen's corners
-added popup menu for windows
-added a small screenshot delay for passive screenshots. This should make switching between tasks seem more responsive (redraws occur before taking screenshots) and help on most of the "overlapping windows" problems
-fixed flashing background when activating Kompos
-Switched to themable KDE cursors
-Window title changes are now updated properly
-Correct handling of windows that are on all desktops
-additionally using hjkl(vi) keys for moving and c/m keys for close/minimize/restore
-Imlib2, Composite and Damage autodetected through configure
-some minor bugs and various smaller performance improvements

is that normal kompose is really taking that much RAM/Swap?
I really love using Kompose and I use it all the time. I really wish you could be looking into this issue.
thanks
(please)

it might be nice to have a mode where it pops up smaller thumbnails around the cursor and didn't hide all the windows. this might help improve performance a little but more importantly would be pretty cool. (these icons would have to be only for the current desktop since i'm thinking this would be useful as a taskbar replacement).

actually pressing F9/F10 again, should quit the kompose mode.
thanks

But the concept of komposé is to minimize the keyboard use so it would be more convenient to alternatively use the mouse for "escaping". Maybe the middle mouse button could be used for this? It has the same function as the right mouse button in komposé so one of it is redundant.

one problem, I dont get notified when something happen in a different window. could kompose do something about that ? or is there another program I could use that would work ?
also, speed improvement would be appreciate.
thanks

i can improve my desktop map..now it's possible fill up the 4 desktop pager and even reorganize one by one with kompose.
i don't think drag'n drop it's so important
it's a funny application..maybe you can add an effect launch(such as Mac-swirl on dashboard or minimize tray icon)or a little menu to set-up this feature with 2 or 3 themes included..
??...it's possible?..im not able to build program in c...:(

cool app, but what's really missing is drag n drop:
drag one file; go into corner (or over expose tray icon), stay a second over target window which then gets activated, drop (or continue dragndrop operation).
ATM staying over the tray icon crashes kompose...

Please add an option to disable the activation of komposé when the left mouse button is pressed.

i don't know how hard would it be to support apple's Widget, but worse case, you could create your own format of widget.
something easy that anybody can code.
less importantly, a smooth animation when get in and out kompose.
that be good.
thanks

Please read the FAQ on the komposé website which should give you some information about the problems and solutions to this aka COMPOSITE.

it would look much better if the Kicker

- window refresh in live time while in kompose (Apple Expose does it)
- smooth animation when jump in/out kompose (like or different than Apple Expose)
- Dashboard (like OSX 10.4)
I'm not sure if they have plan a Sound control module through the dashboard, but I really wish I could control my sound volume through kompose.
to see other modules look at
