Description:

A GTK, xfwm4, openbox-3, GNOME-Shell, and Cinnamon- Dark Mode Theme - Based on the Official Color Palette Created by Ethan Schoonover.

At last, a Solarized desktop theme is available with general appeal. Introducing Material Solarized. This Solarized Material desktop scheme adheres to both Material-Design standards as well as those put forth by the official Solarized Color Palette. The fruits of this combination are a real bonus for those who need the scheme because they have to use their computers for hours - but still wish it to look elegant during those long periods.

Solarized-Dark-Mode - as originally created by Ethan Schoonover - is the highly valued color scheme for code editors and terminal emulators. Material-Solerized GTK dark-mode-scheme strictly adheres to Ethan Schoonover's original color scheme, which has been published for many major applications, with some including the scheme pre-installed. Coders and GUI users, alike, know that - once you try Solarized-Dark-Mode - it is hard to go back to anything else.

In His Own Words:

"Solarized is a sixteen color palette (eight monotones, eight accent colors) designed for use with terminal and gui applications. It has several unique properties. I designed this colorscheme with both precise CIELAB lightness relationships and a refined set of hues based on fixed color wheel relationships. It has been tested extensively in real world use on color calibrated displays (as well as uncalibrated/intentionally miscalibrated displays) and in a variety of lighting conditions." https://ethanschoonover.com/solarized/

Over time, every element of this well-embraced theme package has been re-built from the ground up - an ongoing morphing process starting with the 1.4 version - to address any issues which may arise over the lifetime of the theme. Accordingly, the minor issues which have come up, have likewise been wholly resolved within the Material format - a particularly challenging scheme to keep bug-free. We are glad to hear Material-Solarized has been performing well on most systems sense its inception. Thank, again, secuvim - "https://github.com/secuvim" - for providing needed, early insight into some of those issues, along with additional package support. Thanks, as well, to Rikard Jungman (ID: rjungman), for your talent, hard work, and dedication to our cause!

ing GNOME 3.32.2 and Budgie to bridge the upgrade.

This is the matching desktop theme.

The Suru and Suru++ icons and folders have been carefully crafted to match the Material-Solarized desktop scheme, but they can surely compliment other desktop themes that sport matching color hues.

The Suru-grounded icon set was initially designed and developed by Sam Hewitt - under GPL3. The original Suru icon set and concept was created by Matthieu James - Canonical Design Team. Core developers are Andrea Bonanni (original author) and Gustavo Costa . Devices icons are inspired by La Capitaine created by Keefer Rourke - under GPL3/MIT. Emoji icons are derived from the Twenoji created by Twitter Team - under MIT. Some icons are based on Numix mimetypes icons created by the Numix Team - under GPL3. Devices and places icons and several apps icons are inspired by Papirus icons created by Alexey Varfolomeev - under GPL3. Numberless icons are from Gravit Designer, under GPL3/MIT. Cursors designed by artist, Wojciech Kalinowski.

Manual Installation Is Easy:

1) Extract the "tar.xz" file into your "~/.themes/" folder - to install for current user only - or into the "/usr/share/themes/" folder - for the theme to be applied globally. 2) Use the GNOME Tweak Tool or an equivalent app to enable it for your desktop.

If installing manually, make sure to install the dependency: "Murrine theme engine" if you do not already have it; and update your GTK+packages if you have not.

Logging out and then logging back in may be necessary on some operating systems to fully implement themes.

I've been checking out some other products y'all do with your team, and it's impressive enough, but this theme is like extra luxurious, y'all really went all out thanks a mil!

10 Nice! I have been using a totally Solarized-themed system for a while now, and find it hard to use anything else long-term now. If I had to pick a favorite implementation it would probably be Solarized-Dark-Cyan. Very easy on the eyes. Always look forward to updates for them all though. Many thanks!

9 Excellent theme. There seems to be an issue with the check boxes, though. I am working on Ubuntu Budgie, but have verified also on the Gnome DE. The check boxes, like in Nautilus, when you want to select "Hidden Files", or in the top panel, when you select "Show Battery Percentage", all all invisible. The are no check marks or boxes for the selected or unselected styles. The rest of the theme is great.

Yes, I wish Material standards did not force certain elements to theme with the same hex as another one you need to be a particular color. Depending on the graphics hardware, and the monitor settings, these plugins and context menu issues present as an inactive but visible element. All of our themes and apps are works in progress, and I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I will, as always, be visiting these issues as time allows.
