Description:

OpenBrain is a new interface for the KDE4 desktop (an Artificial Intelligence plasmoid), with which, users can type english instruction sets to an aiml bot to accomplish common computing tasks (such as emailing, googleing, browsing wikipedia, or just chatting). This project is still under early development, and this release is only to verify a platform on which to develop AIML code (see the A.L.I.C.E Projects and AIML Wiki page for more info).

This version of OpenBrain supports application management with commands like 'firefox', 'launch gimp', 'start konsole', or 'killall python'. OpenBrain also can google things with 'google things' or 'google image things'.

openbrain's source is at http://websvn.kde.org/trunk/playground/base/plasma/applets/openbrain

currently working on nepomuk/plasma gui integration. kind of like reverseaiml on crack. but with a gui.

any changes/ideas are very welcome.

Compiled, installed. runs fine.

[problems]
only default AIML runs properly.

externally AIML files give "internal error"

[thoughts]
I'm alien to AI programming, but I'm happy to see an AI application reaching common user desktops via KDE.

[suggestions]
> let it speak the text with kde speech system.

> user can input sequence of commands and let it remember them as say. plan B.

> ability to monitor the system, alert user, or take some low level decision.

> timer/ todo abilities.

uh.. it never ends.

I tried to install some files found here: http://www.square-bear.co.uk/aiml/

Somehow it didn't work as expected. Is the interpreter still in development?

it is indeed still in development, but adding new aiml files should work..
just drop them in the default aiml set folder (~/.openbrain/aiml/default) and reload the widget.

Link points to filedropper.com, yet I don't see a download link there.
