2. 'Flash Drive' wont translate in other locales, better to use the USB logo/s
3. The fine details on the camera, mime-type images, photo folders will not be discernible at 16x16 sizes.
I think its great art work but needs a lot of work. Now I am not saying this because I have any artistic talent myself, kudos to you for a grreat job! - Aug 24 2006

I think this is because I am using Mandriva Cooker with xorg 7.1 which no longer uses the old /usr/X11 paths.
Can someone tell me please how I can fix this to make it build? - Jul 01 2006

Cooker is really for development and testing and not a support forum. Sometimes the Panel wont work for Cooker or xorg even wont start but that is exactly what Cooker is for -- to fix and stabilize bleeding-edge apps; welcome to the game if you dont mind a few knee scrapes.
Mandriva hires a large and talented group of people to develop and produce its distro and no one bank-rolls them, but these people have families and bills too. It is no disprespect asking you to buy support, go to community forums, submit patches, search the knowledgebase etc.
If -- if you had paid for Mandriva Cooker and were not getting support it would be understandable if that made you angry but making a public display here is really not helpful to you or anyone else. - May 28 2006

I like the way a lot of recently used apps fit in the upper panel, for me the one I want to use is usually the one that just fell off the list! :)
The 'More Applications' button is actually a big improvement over WinXP where hitting the 'All Programs' can cause a monstrous multi-column menu that fills the screen from top to bottom and left to right to fly out and cause a mental shock :)
My critique is the lack of a 'Run...' tool, no search tool and I cant guess what the green L-arrow means - Apr 28 2006

You know its because I love this application and admire your guts why I even commented. My remarks were not meant to hurt feelings but to express my personal disappointment. I wanted you to succeed so much, do you understand?

Because kbfxspinx does not populate the kbfx menu I had to resort to letting it use KMenu menus. Why did I bother to install if I then have to partially disable it?
The install was unconventional and in bad form, installing stuff on /usr root. Why did they not use kdevelop for eg. so ./configure, make, make install would work right away?
The kbfx configurator uses an unusual window that departs from norm by not having a close button... that may look cute but its an annoying departure from norm.
By releasing an essentially broken package I think you have hurt your credibility... I wont immediately install your future releases as I used to, as I recall kbfx used to just work but not kbfxspinx. - Apr 26 2006

However, there is not a single menu item to be found, each category prompts me to add/edit items. Clicking on that takes me to kmenuedit but I still dont see how to add my dozens of menu entries.
Can someone toss me a clue please?

Any tips please? - Apr 16 2006

I downloaded, compiled and installed kbfx v0.4.8.2 but he he, how do I configure and get it on my panel?
I am running an earlier version right now as a panel applet. - Mar 12 2006

(Q) Does the CPL allow me to take the Source Code for a Program licensed under it and include all or part of it in another program licensed under the GNU General Public License (GPL), Berkeley Software Distribution (BSD) license or other Open Source license?
(A) No. Only the owner of software can decide whether and how to license it to others. Contributors to a Program licensed under the CPL understand that source code for the Program will be made available under the terms of the CPL. Unless you are the owner of the software or have received permission from the owner, you are not authorized to apply the terms of another license to the Program by including it in a program licensed under another Open Source license. By the way, the same answer applies if you want to include source code licensed under another Open Source license in a program licensed under the CPL.
The solution seems to be -- stop using graphviz.
May I suggest you investigate kdissert [http://freehackers.org/~tnagy/kdissert/index.html] for similar graphic capabilities? - Feb 17 2006

One of the hardest things about development is to keep the motivation going, but you already have one in a great sounding idea for KDE Improvement ((c),TM) and most of functionality you want is already there -- albeit in different parts of KDE. And rightly speaking only you know your vision and can best realise it.
I think you can do it, even though you may not think you can. - Feb 13 2006

Issues:
- Kbfxvista still behaves like kbfx or kmenu -- not like shown on kde-apps
- the right-click menu for configure kbfxvista does nothing
- there is nothing for kbfx in kcontrol->Look and Feel
I love the promise and looks of what I saw on: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=24898
and right now I use kbfx, I really like this product
But choice of vista in name is unfortunate; if you're coming from linux you're thinking I dont want to copy MS Windows and if youre coming from a Windows background you may be expecting something really similar to Vista, so I dont think you will really please your consituency - Jan 29 2006

I would not want this on my desktop but it does have some potential... find a way to make the text balanced/more symetrical, use the orange as a sort of highlight, break the orange into two vertical bars at both ends of the button. etc? etc? - Jan 25 2006

but Alt + tab is going to be much faster and convenient, you dont have to take your hands off the keyboard to go mousing.
So I am sure newbies and the GUI people would like this but it should not take away from the convenience of hot key use

There are in fact several universal viewers available in both Gnome and KDE and the combination of MIME types and file name ext mostly succeeds today so the user dont have to remember which app to use to open.
I think the idea of virtual folders is a winner, and we started down that path already with things like media://, settings:// and devices:// so it would be a logical progression to allow users to arbitraily create their own and also dynamically generate a basic set (today, yesterday, etc) - Dec 14 2005

X Contact
V Contact
is misplaced; it should either stay in the main toolbar or be located just below the main list of contacts.
Its not clear how the Numpad is got to, but the overall layout is very nice... what is that, a dash or underline beneath the 0 key?
A customizable image for the contact is very nice, even nicer if it could be shared that is I may want to transmit my image with my contact info to someone else? - Dec 07 2005
