Macbuntu guarantee the safe code only if the application comes from this address https://sourceforge.net/projects/macbuntu/. Not linux-macbuntu, macbuntu-linux, macbuntu-something or something-macbuntu just macbuntu (https://sourceforge.net/projects/macbuntu/)

Macbuntu script is safe, but in the fact it runs with root privileges and this is already becoming a dangerous.

Macbuntu does not contain any malicious code, as it guarantees. I guarantee the safe code only if the application comes from this address

https://sourceforge.net/projects/macbuntu/

I do not put this package in any other place outside the https://sourceforge.net/projects/macbuntu/files/

Remember, check whether a link leads to this page. Otherwise, stop downloading.

This is your computer and take care of him, never run applications with root privileges if you do not trust the software or you are unsure about the origin of this software.

It is very possible that soon I will prepare a PPA for Macbuntu, until then keep checking the origin of the package.

Thank you for your attention, have fun :)

Do you dont see a GlobalMenu applet on the topbar? Do you have a topbar enabled?

If you want to disable GlobalMenu please remove the applet from the topbar.
If you want to enable local menubar please open GlobalMenu preferences and check on "Show local menu in window"

Exactly, it has already been changed and will be excluded in the new versions.
For this reason, was not possible to completely change the font to another.

Thanks for the info.

I can not test everything myself. I was tested Chinese language on the VirtualBox and seemed to be all right. Apparently supplied fonts are not universal.

Mac sound themes will be delivered in v2.3, along with the revised icons.

Integration of Firefox and OOo with the Global Menu, there will be a problem, but it's possible that the Application Menu will deal better with this in the future.

Windows 7 Transformation Pack? Have not heard yet, but I will check what we can steal :)

Please import this Compiz profile
http://www.losoft.org/blog/download/macbuntu/compiz-profile.tar.gz
and then see if the animations are working correctly. Settings are similar to those which the script sets.

If this does not work that means the compiz plugins have been damaged. You need to reinstall Compiz.

Another question. Do you have any problem with the fonts, because I'm not sure if the supplied font is correct in China.

Please check if the visual effects are enabled in System->Preferences->Appearance->Visual effects. - Oct 03 2010

Nautilus-Elementary is a great idea to bring Mac OS X Finder to Linux, but need some work, especially on the technical side, it is not stable yet.

This is how looks default Finder in Mac OS X

http://www.geekology.co.za/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/mac-osx-finder-full-path-titlebar-2.jpg

but what you showed - Path Finder - is more better

http://www.cocoatech.com/

You're right, the appearance need to work on, but unfortunately I have no experience in the modification of themes on such level. Therefore, in the next version, Nautilus will not be changed. But surely this will be corrected.

The project is open, so everyone can join and help improve it:)

That thing with animations plugin for Compiz x64 it wonder me. It was tested on 2 Ubuntu x64 machines and on the Virtual Box, everything worked properly.

There is an alternative, modify the plug on the client machine

Right, does not look interesting. The perennial problem with the icons, I need to take care of that. Immediately I will deal with this issue.

Missing icon, deskbar-applet.png 24 fixed. There are no paths in the file index.theme.

Meanwhile, you can modify your index.theme

[Icon Theme]
...
Directories=24x24/apps,actions/16,...

[24x24/apps]
Size=24
Context=Applications
Type=fixed
...

But the easiest way is to copy the file deskbar-applet.png to right directory

Current version (2.2)
cp ~/.icons/Macbuntu-10.04-Icons/24x24/apps/deskbar-applet.png ~/.icons/Macbuntu-10.04-Icons/status/24/

SVN version (2.3)
cp ~/.icons/Macbuntu-Icons/24x24/apps/deskbar-applet.png ~/.icons/Macbuntu-Icons/status/24/

I'm not sure whether you can force to run a different java UI and if already, the application will be slower.

The program itself has to load the appropriate GUI, the best way is use the system UI

UIManager.setLookAndFeel(UIManager.getSystemLookAndFeelClassName());

So loaded classes will always be similar to the system UI.

I do not know any other method, but if I find out something that will give you to know. - Sep 22 2010

My mistake, I have not prepared a suitable compiz animations for Ubuntu x64, this is what causes the error in compiz. After you install the correct version, everything should work correctly.

It will take me a moment to modify the animation files. I'll give you know when they might be ready.

If you have other issues, please send me all information about. I will be grateful and will try as soon as possible to fix any problems. - Sep 18 2010

There are no limits for the theme itself, only the installation script is not adapted to this release of Ubuntu. The script configuring compiz, top panel, and a few other things that cause animation problems and system errors.
I'm going to prepare - in the near future - a script for this version, but it may take a while.
You can of course manually install individual components, ie, theme, icons, cursors, fonts, etc. - Sep 18 2010

At this time, you can not completely change the fonts, I am already preparing hotfix.

To do this, you must perform the following steps:
1. Delete hidden file .fonts.conf from your home directory

rm -f ~/.fonts.conf

2. Edit the following files from the directory ~/.themes/Macbuntu-10.04/ and remove lines, which define the style and font size /font_name = "Lucida/

Now you can change the font from the SPAF - Sep 16 2010

The second case requires a modification of grub.cfg (/boot/grub/grub.cfg)
Open the file:
sudo gedit /boot/grub/grub.cfg

At the end run this command:
sudo update-grub - Aug 30 2010
