This looks gorgeous, but just a little too fat.

I'd love to have it somewhat slimmer, standard cursor and hand ones especially.
Also, the text input is a little too bold on top and bottom.

I like it, especially these grey highlight !

But, in my personal opinion, bubblemon used to look better full-flat :-) - May 13 2010
The new file works better, thanks !

Still, on bubblemon, I see a little thing off.

The black, darker part (the actually "used") grows wider than the grey ("container") part, when increasing in heigth. It's like the black goes out on left and right.
The Plasmoid has not been rotated - May 12 2010
I tried it.

Thank you very much for your work ! It's almost perfect.

About Bubblemon a few details are off:
there's a bright border on the upper part, perhaps it'd look better full-flat
Also, the black slice (the actual "indicator") goes a little out of the shape when rising up. I guess it's caused by the bright border said above - May 11 2010
This is very nice.

I'd like to ask/suggest a few things:

- A few plasma icons (battery the most) are plain ugly. Out there there are a few plasma themes with way better (and flat) variants: Glassified plasma theme for example.
Would you consider to import them ?

- The bubblemon "icon" is flashy, colorful, really not flat. Would you consider to reskin that ? I find it very good-looking to fuse it in wallpapers with circles (and, in KDE's world, those wallpapers are very popular), but it would work best if made more flat and color-neutral. And that's the way your theme is... - May 10 2010

Boot has become so fast that I barely have a chance to see distro splash.

Any chance for you to make a very simplified version of this, replacing the ethais icons with the very kubuntu dots for loading progress ?

this way the entire KDE sits and wait for network !

This is very noticeable on a wifi based system, and literally kills any start-up time improvement distros made in the last years.

I suppose that os.system pause is way too wide. The best thing would be to put in a loop the facebook plasmoid, not the entire plasma/KDE.

Would you consider to make a disk activity applet/tray icon ?
Something very slick on graphics: a desaturaded hdd icon which saturate when a disk read/write occour.

Since nowadays many laptops ship (but also remote machines I think) with no HDD led, this would be great.

Excellence would be an ubuntu-style-notification (icon only) which occours when disk activity lasts long (great way to infrm user that eventual glitches he may encounter are related to heavy disk activity)

Btw, have you noticed the Karmic icon theme ?
Specifically, the tray icons (network, volume, battery, and so on) are really nice - especially on a netbook: minimalist, monochromatic and VERY effective.

>>You mean the window icon? Yes that's supposed to happen. I could make it scale with the panel, but it's going to look ugly, because the icon the window managers provide is only 16x16 pixels large.

Thne maybe the best-looking way would be to show app icon like dockbarx do. But then, maybe I'm going a little too far with my wishlist :) - Jul 14 2009
I think I was suffering from the "wrong packaging" issue.

Now preferences dialog is fine.

- window title no longer shows up
- icons stays very very small even on a 48 pixel panel
- buttons no longer show
- also, window buttons no longer works. No buttons come on panel, and on next startup gnome prompts me there was a problem con windowbuttons applet and offers me to remove it from panel.

using ubuntu jaunty, updated. - Jul 13 2009

to be of any help I point out there are a few bugs/improvements possible in 0.2.1:

- only setting visible in preferences is "show windows from any work area" (sorry, translation may be incorrect)

- pressing OK in preferences makes disappear the OK button, but the preferences dialog stills, button-less

- in actual behaviour, only maximized windows will have their title visible in the applet. Maybe that would be convenient to add a minimize and de-maximize button, too, not only the close-window one. At least the de-maximize one !

as it is, now Windowapplet has the potential to be better than dockbarx:

- icons would be much better to see if they would scale according to panel size
(using horizontal panel here)

- overrall look may be imprved by removing the background from apps and app title.

Looking forward for your next release !

Knd regards - Jul 10 2009

Namebar is very close to the scope of my suggestion !

using DockbarX and Namebar shows twice the application icon (one in dockbarx, one in namebar), and in two different places in the screen (dockbarx on the left, namebar in middle)

Looking to the Namebar screenshoot:
my suggestion is to make dockbarx show the maximized window name by the side of the icon. In the example, the firefox name aside of the dockbarx firefox icon. - Jun 16 2009
Maybe to mitigate this, the "expand" behavior could be used only when the focused window is maximized... ?

That would make a good compromise ? - Jun 15 2009
The more I use Dockbarx, the more I love it !

I'd suggest a new feature if you don't mind:

scenario: netbook, single auto-hiding panel (big), windows button applet (from configured to hide titlebar for maximized windows

suggestion: DockBarX may incorporate a feature to even better show the focused application (a wider halo, or a "tab-like" background, or an expanded view (where the focused application shows more like a taskbar element, with window title readable)

why: in the provided scenario, this would allow an eyecandy, space saver, efficient interface to deal with windows, especially maximized ones.

I hope to see this implemented, that would be a true step forward in netbook useability with standard desktop interfaces.

Thank you for reading !
PS: if you need a visual help to understand the scenario, ask me for screenshots ;) - Jun 13 2009

OH... I tried to move back panel to the bottom... and it WORKED ! Then back to the left... still working... I try a logoff... if I still have a problem I'll write again.
Anyway, there must be something wrong with dockbarx and vertical panels... - Apr 30 2009

Hi, I'd suggest a few things to make this wonderful applet even better

- If clicking on a icon of an app opened on a virtual desktop different from the actual one, should move to the correct virtual desktop, rather tham move the app on the current one and minimize it.
If the app is on the same virual desktop than user is on, then app should be minimized

- a way to hide specific applications (example: skype places an icon in the notification area, and we end with a double icon - notification area and dockbar - which is plain space waste.
