I made a binary package for Cantata that STILL needs some polish, yet installs files just fine. Built on sid, works fine on wheezy, and I guess it'll be fine with Ubuntu.

updated the link a few hours ago, so it may be sthg else.
Thanks for this :) - Mar 14 2012
You have included clear compilation instructions, but I had to "guess" the build-deps. Not very hard
but there are a lot like me, non-tech users :)
Would you add at least in this page the build-dep packages for your distro? Both obligatory and optional. Then we can guess what's needed in our :) - Dec 30 2011
What I meant is that you can set .mpdconf to bind_to_address (as in your typical "localhost" "6600" etc)
or set bind_to_address to a Unix socket file, as in
/home/user/.mpd/socket.
If I set the latter (socket, which is what I use for some reasons), cantata shows nothing.
This is what I meant, thanks :) - Dec 26 2011

I checked and the icons appear where they should under /icons/Faenza/.../. I also ran gtk-update-icon-theme just in case, with no success. - Nov 22 2010

Various Gnome Stuff by OrphanShadow 23 comments
I'm on Debian Squeeze AMD64 with plain gnome, and the compiz-indicator's menu has the entries grayed out.
If I run «emerald/gtk-window-decorator --replace» they appear, but sometimes it only allows me to change to the current window decorator. If I click on it, the current window decorator reloads and then I'm given the chance to change to the other window decorator (meaning it gets un-grayed).
Just in case, I set sleep 6 for compiz-indicator in startup applications, but nothing.
Still a very nice app, however :) - Nov 19 2010
I was surprised to see gtranslator had an icon :) As a FOSS translator, thanks for caring for those programs!
Would you like doing one for Virtaal [1], another CAT tool, as well?
Concerning dropbox, experimental has reached a point where iconnames must be prefixed with 'dropboxstatus-*' to appear. Also, 24x24 is too big for a normal panel, and 16x16, too small, but this is secondary.
thanks

The problem with fusion-icon is that it doesn't use the icon from status/ when on the notification area, but from apps/. I had to copy the icons there to make the monochrome icon appear.
Cheers. - Aug 30 2010
original icon:
ooo-writer.svg
symbolic links:
ooo-writer24.svg
ooo-writer2.svg
ooo-writer3.0.svg
openofficeorg3-*
openofficeorg24-*
(maybe a couple more)
So that's what elementary's author needed to do so everybody will get it right. Seriously thanks for your help, but this is like flogging a dead horse :(
I don't know what's to blame here (OOo?), but maybe Faenza will need to have the same to get these icons right on every system.
openofficeorg-*? Strange nobody else noticed/complained/minded/ about it. - Aug 18 2010
To sum my whim with others.. I would love to see just:
Gvim
Banshee
Virtaal
The third is a l10n tool (we FOSS translators never get icons for our tools, understandably), I guess the icon only needs a square background and some colour modification :) - Aug 16 2010

I have to note that the icons inside extra/liferea are misspelt (avaiable instead of available), making the change-liferea... unusable for now.
OTOH, I made a change-empathy-icon.sh based on your pidgin one. It reuses the pidgin icons, and since the icon set for empathy is smaller, it is easy. I have not done a "restore" script, but would you like me to send the script to you? - May 10 2010
