When using the default Oxygen theme, the shadows leave a gap around the rounded corners. Would there be any easy way to fix this? It looks really dumb.

Of course, I could always enable "Draw behind windows", but that isn't quite as fast as the normal method. - Mar 24 2010

Yup, I've got cmake 2.8.0 . I think it's probably an issue with kdemod rather than one with your patch (clearly, seeing as it works for everyone else :P ). - Mar 18 2010
Running arch 64 bit, the patch applies just fine, but when i run `cmake -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr .` i get this:
CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:25 (macro_log_feature):

This is driving me up a wall, since I'm running a fully up-to-date kdemod desktop and I really want these damn effects. - Mar 17 2010

Am I missing something? I go to look at your link to the changelog, and it just takes me to the bzr trunk. I try to go to the path in the link, and the changelog tells me that for version 1.7+, the changelog is stored in exactly the same place as the current useless one is. Could we get an actual changelog, or can I please be directed to the proper one if I'm just a moron? Thanks. - Jan 14 2010
You say to download the package for the full changelog, but you haven't updated it since version 1.6. What gives? - Jun 06 2009
My only issue is that the menu is almost unbearably slow to do anything (open, close, start an application, whatever). My guess is because it's written in Python, but I'm not ruling everything else out. I really want to love this, but the slowness just kills it for me. - May 09 2009

I think it's because some are black and white and entirely opaque (most of the later ones) and therefore don't have any "gaps" in the opacity like some of the earlier ones. Hope this helps (or even makes sense for that matter). - Jan 29 2009

There is the issue of XFCE though. AFAIK, it doesn't use Gconf unless an app specifically tells it to. I do plan on putting this on my Xubuntu box (using gnome-swallow-applet) that I use occasionally, and I don't want to have to track in all of the Gconf dependencies due to the storage limitations (only have about 20 GB usable, 5 or so of which are filled). Just a consideration. Keep it up! I don't have enough patience to learn C, so I give you kudos for putting up with my nitpicking ;) - May 02 2009
This is exactly what I needed for my Dell mini 9. I use it with the globalmenu applet as has been mentioned before, but also have a bottom panel with a window list and workspace switcher, set to autohide.

The next logical step in my mind would be to have an option to have the applet take the button icons from the metacity theme.

Also, if you can't figure out Gconf, why not just use a flat config file until you can get it working with Gconf? That's what I would do anyway, just a suggestion.

LOVE LOVE LOVE your applet! Keep it up! :D - May 02 2009

I think the reasons why it is voted bad are twofold. For one, it's completely impossible to do with gtk, barring a total rewrite of the code. For two, using an almost circular window shape is extremely inefficient as far as efficiency is concerned. It is very difficult to effectively lay out things in a circular window without wasting a lot of space.

It's a good effort, and I appreciate that you're thinking outside the box (literally), but I think you should lose the unusual window shape. - May 02 2009

While I don't approve of you not crediting most of the artists for the work of theirs that you are using, I do appreciate your packaging skills. The package works quite well on Hardy, Intrepid, and Jaunty beta. I just wish you would state somewhere the sources from which you took the art. So please, if you're reading this, just make a lot of people happier by adding a full credits section.

Again, I'm not bashing you for using other people's work, I just wish you would give them credit.

Just thought you might care about my opinion.

Also, if you want to include my reflection pack in UE, you're more than welcome to. It might add something else over other distributions to have a window reflection by default.

Just my $0.02 - Mar 27 2009
As soon as i posted i saw that you started the credits. Thank you for doing the right thing. - Mar 12 2009
Yup. It is. The only difference between this and the standard HP netbook theme is the icons, which I believe are just slightly modified from Hydroxygen, and for which no (visible) credit is given. Also, the sounds are from other sound sets on this site (cant recall which ones in particular at the moment, but I'm sure of it).

Since there's no readme file or anything, you really should put the credit on this page. This is a blatant copyright violation, and a pretty big "f*ck you" to everyone who put their time and hard work into making these themes. If you have any conscience you'll give them credit. - Mar 12 2009

However, if it weren't for the branding, I would use this theme. It's been a while since I've seen anyone use the Ubuntulooks engine, and it happens to be one of my favorites. Keep up the good work, just with less Cardinals and more win ;P - Jan 28 2009

The dock is probably the only thing that I think Microshaft has done right with their operating systems, and was even debating trying out the windows 7 beta. Thanks to you though, I don't have to tarnish my soul by downloading that crap.

Now to my pointers...

I agree with the previous poster about icon scaling. I was hoping to use this on my Inspiron mini 9 to save panel space, but when I read that I have to resize my panel to 50 pixels (almost 10% of my available screen space), I thought again. Still, it isn't bad for the third release.

Also, for the future, could there be an option to raise all windows of an application by clicking the icon itself? That would be awesome.

Keep up the good work, and good job keeping the Microsofties on their toes ;) - Jan 20 2009
