please try the latest version 0.53 from the screenlets ppa... - May 13 2011
thanks for reporting and solving this bug ! :-) It is fixed in the ppa. You should see it in the next update! - Mar 18 2011
EASY INSTALL FOR UBUNTU

If Screenlets PPA is not already enabled on your system, either from software sources manager or terminal add ppa:screenlets-dev/ppa to the list of software sources (see http://www.screenlets.org/index.php/Download for help).

Freemeteo screenlet should be in the default screenlets package! If not search freemeteo with your package manager (after adding the ppa) and install it! - Mar 02 2011
@ Troublemaker DV

1. I'm thinking in the next versions to make something like a combo to choose how often to update (every hour or every day or every week) and to store weather data localy (in the meantime)!

2. they don't include my region too and that is why I wrote freemeteo weather.

3. I think there is a plasma applet for KDE supporting many weather services... - Feb 14 2011
the version 0.4.5 was propably from deb testing packages. Anyway after contacted with the screenlet-dev team and cowriter of freemeteo screenlet Guido Tabbernuk there will be one unified version of freemeteo screenlet under the number 0.4.6 and you are more than welcome to use the screenlets ppa! - Feb 13 2011
... No, old version was 0.2. You might have downloaded the screenlet from somewhere else. Dont forget that the source code is avalaible to anyone so anyone might have changed it! - Feb 08 2011
fixed in 0.2.2 - Feb 07 2011
Hi! It is updating every 5 minutes. Not in realtime. I did that because it is not meant to be a clock screenlet and I didn't want to have many updates to keep memory and cpu low. Although if you wish to change it you can edit with a text editor ~/.screenlets/FreemeteoWeather/Freemeteoweatherscreenlet.py and change in line 32:
update_interval = 300
the 300 to whatever you wish. 300 is the update interval in seconds (300 seconds = 5 minutes).
I plan in the next minor update to add an option of "update now" and / or an option to change this update interval! - Nov 21 2010
nice! sometimes it get's a while until it fetches freemeteo... but that has nothing to do with the screenlet itself. I is up to the internet connection, the load on freemeteo's servers ... - Mar 11 2010
Is your zip code 683506 ?
It seems to be working ok for me... don't know... - Mar 11 2010
what happens if you double click on the screenlet? does it change between show / not show forecast?
Do you see current weather conditions? 1 icons by the city name?
In witch country/town do you live (if you don't mind answering...)? - Mar 11 2010
1. does it show something? What?
2. did you put the freemeteo's ZIP code area in the properties?
If yes then open a terminal and execute:
python ~/.screenlets/FreemeteoWeather/FreemeteoWeatherScreenlet.py
and copy-paste the output here - Mar 11 2010
Again thank you for your nice words but I'll answer to you the same as the previous request for a vertical layout. What you ask for if like creating a theme for the screenlet. That involves a great deal of work regarding the drawing code. I don't say I couldn't do it (although I don't know much of cairo libs) but It would need too much time right now (reading - learning - implement) that I don't have :-( (work, family,...) Maybe at summer time... - Feb 20 2010
My friend making a vertical version would mean create a whole new screenlet regarding the drawing code.
I didn't wrote the drawing code of this screenlet (just altered it a little to show minimum temperatures and week days in many languages).
It needs too much work for me to be done so maybe someone else could take on such a task! Someone good with drawing and cairo code perhaps?

A TIP: If you use the mini version (just for city name - time and current weather icon / temperature it fits in a vertical stack of screenlets! - Feb 11 2010
Thank you for your nice words. It feels good to see other people like your work and use it! - Feb 04 2010
Ok I've added a screenshot about the ZIP code and freemeteo.com. (Use F5 to update if it shows the previous screenshots...) - Jan 30 2010
If you mean an icon in the system tray there isn't supposed to be one... By trayicon in the properties it shows a little plus/minus sign just a little to the right of the current weather conditions (next to the word "now"). It is used to indicate the screenlet's state. Long or Small. Try double click on the screenlet to see what I mean. - Jan 29 2010

pytz = Python time zone library
Anyway you need to install the pytz python module. In ubuntu you should install python-tz and it's dependancies.
sudo apt-get install python-tz
or just use synaptic - Jan 28 2010
Please run in a terminal the following command and tell me the output:

python ~/.screenlets/FreemeteoWeather/FreemeteoWeatherScreenlet.py - Jan 28 2010
gtkvnstat

...about the zero division error I'll check it tomorrow. until then use a value for the cost :-) - Oct 22 2010
check the permissions of ifconfig:
Mine are:
manos@manos-desktop:~$ ls -la /sbin/ifconfig
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 72608 2010-02-12 03:15 /sbin/ifconfig
manos@manos-desktop:~$

the zero division error must be because of this. - Oct 22 2010

Finally a notes screenlet that renders correctly Greek! Keep the good work.
If possible:
1. it would be nice to access the properties via the standard way and not only via right click
2. Possibility to change font?!

Why the xport option is greyed out? - Aug 26 2010
