Yes, I thought about having a complement function.

It would be an easy(er) implementation task than tweaking the c/center module to add this feature, and certainly more confortable for the user. On the other hand, i'll have to tweak the panel anyway to enable/disable the feature (there's no point having a halo on a black background :) ).

I'll try to implement a decent complement method and see how it behaves on the mid range text (gray [100-170]ish). However, i'd keep the halo on gray shades (white-black) and not allow color ones (I don't really see a readability advantage of a dark/light color over white/black shadow). Also it eliminates "yet another configuration task" issue (aka. keep it simple). If you think otherwise, please let me know :) - Jan 23 2003

it does. I've changed it to be position idependent. aka just draws custom images instead of black arrows.

Ive finished the preliminary code @ 3am this morning so there are still a few hardcoded bits. I'll have it polished today or tomorrow and then i'll make a patch.

Full Icon Themes by everaldo 385 comments

Hi all!

First, i'd like to say: congrats to all working on this theme :).

As the title was suggesting.. is it possible to get some (svg probably) templates for icon components? I'm particularely interested in arrows and stuff. I'd like to build several icons of my own and rotating pixmaps is not necessarily a good thing @ 16x16.. :)

Various Stuff by yf12s 32 comments

A change of layout and style of the existent kde menu is welcome :). and imho this one is cute and more usable tan the default. However ... (ahem)

However, i think a menu should be built based on "less clicks and mouse movement for common applications/groups". As Eugenia mentioned in her reviews, most menus look cluttered and some have multiple entries for the same thing. Therefore, i dont think it's worth just adding plugins in the menu and a nice frame. Probly a redesign... any volunteers.. :) ?

The screenshots look really nice. But I'm not sure about the baloon style in a menu. It gives the feeling of a (really big) tooltip :) That;s why i'd go for a "Dynamic menu" style. The frame circleing the parent entry and the submenu looks cool and is probably quite easy to implement. although i'd be curious to see a concept on small fonts (let's say 11pt) and left-right nested cascades..

in conclusion: new menu for kde? definately, but not just for the sake of eyecandy. - Oct 21 2002

What about blue? Quite a few themes (bbox, ice and even windows) use "impure" blues (eg. RGB=30,80,150). maybe it's me, but I think they're quite relaxing.
