Thanks, to create the deb I just had to do "sudo checkinstall" instead of "sudo make install" as last command!

How can I build a deb package from the source archive? I tried the standard "./configure && make && sudo checkinstall" but the ./configure file is missing... am I missing something obvious?

DISCLAIMER: I have no coding skills at all, sorry if this question is/sounds stupid. XD - Apr 27 2015

Ok, performance is much much better this time around, I'd say it has very little cost (if any) in terms of system performance.

I don't know if you have any plans on developing this, but if you do, it needs some settings (like speed control... boy this little thing is FAST! XD ) and some good way to close it, I had to struggle and juggle with my trackpad to stop the chocobo, I clicked on it with the left button and kept it pressed to make it stop running, then i simultaneously clicked with the right button and I've been able to close the plasmoid via a context menu... but that's a little bit tricky!
I don't know, you could make the chocobo stop running if i click on it, and then making in run again with another click... that way you have time to make the plasmoid control little bar and effectively use it without chasing this little yellow tornado all around the screen :P

P.S.
By the way, you must totally do a RoadRunner / Wyle &. Coyote version of this :D - Feb 13 2011

bkodama is from ibuscher, just like benma! ;)

I don't know if it depends on the bigger dimension of this plasmoid, but while I can let bkodama live peacefully on my desktop, wandering, appearing and disappearing alla around without any significant loss in system performance, as i loaded benma my system began to CRAWL... I even had a difficult time in shutting benma down.

I'm on a Dell Mini 1012 (so not exactly a ultrapower machine) but such a persisten slowdown is unusual nevertheless.

Are you sure you are using KDM and not GDM? from what I can see on the Mint website, the KDE version of Mint 10 has not yet been released. You shouldn't need to install system settings i kde, it's default.

Thank you, I didn't know about Xephyr. I tried with the command you suggested (changing resolution to fit my screen) but all I get is a black screen/window... am I doing something wrong? The window title says "ctrl+shift grabs mouse and keyboard" but I can't get that to happen, so I can't give any input to my nested X window...

I don't remember if I had to install some additional package to do this (I'm on Kubuntu Maverick) but in System Settings, under "System Management" I have an "Access screen" entry (names can be slightly different, my system is in Italian and I'm translating them in English by myself). With that module you can tweak the configuration on KDM and you have a pretty self-explanatory "Theme" tab ;) - Feb 03 2011
