Just a quick note that Baghira doesn't render properly when used on PPC (at leastm it doesn't on my Powerbook). The edge of the buttons have somewhat of an outline, and the progress bar is messed. I can post a few screenshots if you'd like.

I've been thinking/saying this for a while now. Something that is a cross between KDM/GDM would ge great, and I think this is an excellent example. KDE is grown so much ivisually, but it seems that KDM is still lagging behind. - Nov 24 2003

I've tried all of the background options there...some do help the text show up better, but I find they make it stand out too much. I have a black/dark green background and hope to keep the theme kind of dark but translucent...and white fonts make it so that I can actually see the stats. - Nov 23 2003

This is great idea and very good start for this. I can see many things that could be added to this, and would love to see further devolpment and addition features (maybe like a Konquer-based Synaptic). Mymain criticsm as it stands is that maybe the search and show coulp be simplified in some way that one doesn't have to remember the 'search?' or such (maybe make it something simpler like 'apt-search:/searchstring and apt-show:/packagename' Other than that, very excellent. In every Karamba, Kicker, SuperKaramba replacement I have seen, there seems to be a lack of a system tray. I find this kind of odd, as it is fairly important, and using the default one would totally compromise the nice eye cand provided by these.

I also think that all of the activity going on in order to make new "themes" or such should make a point. I think it is time for Kicker to really branch out and take off. Some of these ideas are really nice, but because of their add-on nature, they take up a lot more resources than the Kicker does. I also think that if you compare Linux to Mac OS and Windows, it's flexibility is in offering choice. I think in revolutionizing the Kicker, it could really make KDE, and Linux stick out. - Jun 25 2003

I was trying out your golden set last night. The cursors look really nice, however I began to wonder what it would look like having nice sivler ones. Just a thought. I like the icons...very original and not like any others out there. They remind me of the style of icons that one would find in gnome...and that is a good thing. KDFE always seems to have it's own style, so it's nice to see something different. I think I'll try them out when there is a complete set. - Mar 22 2003

I thought I had logged in when I made that comment...guess not (not like it really matters, but I'd rather not post as anonymous).

Anyways, what I was trying to say is that my left poitner (the reverse of the standard pointer)actually didn't show up. It's not a huge ordeal to me, because it is used in very few places.

I find myself liking a very sinmple xterm xcursor because it is used in Word Processing programs, and when you type, etc. Having a colorful curors is kind of distracting to me.

Another thing I have noticed is that the hand become difficult to see on dark backgrounds. I like the pointer, but maybe some sort of outline or something in red so it can be seen on all backgrounds.

Oh....one quick question....is the watch replacement for KDE supposed to be animated (is that even possible). It looks like mine isn't.

The new cursors are certainly a new improvement...for those looking just to 'tweak' the default ones, there is the source images in .xcf format (The Gimp), that has all of the shadows and transparencies there. I didn't mind the red ones, but have been slowly modifing them to my own liking. Looking forward to the actual 4.3 release. - Jan 28 2003
