I stopped following you at the "θΏ™". ;-)

Sorry, I don't speak Chinese. Afligido, yo no hablo chino. Entschuldigung, ich kann kein Chinesisch. Je ne parle pas Chinois.

But passing your posting through babelfish.altavista.com, the result looks like it was probably originally a poem. - Jan 29 2006
I have made an SVG out of this so it can be used on any background. I also shifted the second column down a little, I hope this does not change the meaning of the symbols. ;-)

What does it mean, btw? - Jan 29 2006

I would still be surprised if this were possible - to render the blur the engine would have to move the actual position of the content of the treeview, so there would have to be some feedback mechanism for the padding on a size_request.

Also, to lay a gradient accross the complete GtkWindow you have to align the gradients in every container with each other (or the child containers would have to be transparent).

Another problem is that the drop-down buttons of GtkSelectionBoxEntry (or whatever it was called) and GtkOptionMenu have different sizes in every theme that I saw; not sure if it is possible to assign them a new size.

But I sure hope you are right. - Jan 19 2006
How would you do the rounded corners on GtkEntry, GtkTreeview, GtkNotebook? How would you do the drop shadows inside the GtkEntry? How the gradient on the backgrounds of the containers (GtkWindow, GtkNotebook, GtkOptionMenu)? - Jan 19 2006

I remember trying this, but XMMS themes only support 256 colors, the same with the (more flexible) xmms-kjofol theming.

Also, I see no reason why this would not be possible to implement in a generic way.

HP has posted some ideas on theming that could make a more flexible theming possible:

...I wish GNOME had better theming capabilities. It's still the best that we have for Linux desktops however (Qt looks even more dull IMO), so let's hope someone comes up with a really good solution for the next generation theming. - Nov 10 2005

Nice, except that the content of the minimize/maximize/close buttons has a slightly incorrect offset. - Nov 01 2005

Looks great, except for the buttons being kind of blurry. You probably scaled them? - Sep 02 2005

Very nice, but the "gridded" style for inactive icons doesn't fit. Should be made lighter instead, I guess. - Jun 24 2005

Ummm... if you want Xine integrated into the look and feel of your desktop, why don't you just use Totem instead? - Mar 17 2005

Also, the border of the GNOME text IMO looks a bit too bright.

I have hacked this together:

Haven't tried it out though. I hope the progress icons appear at the correct position. - Oct 10 2004
