I'd like to ask exactly what files are used to define the theme and settings? I'm asking this because I'm running a gtk2 program in a jail, and want it to use the same QtCurve theme as the rest of the system. What files should I copy into the jail? I know at least .gtkrc-2.0, .gtkrc.mine, some files from .kde4? Anything else? - Jun 20 2016
Just noticed that there seems to be similar bug in 'Advanced settings > Gtk expander highlight'. Maybe you should go around and check all such settings :) - Jan 26 2010
Using QtCurve-1.0.1/Gtk+-2.18.6 on Gentoo:

The 'Checks and Radios > Background mouse-over highlight' works incorrectly on Gtk2 apps; if it is set to a positive percentage, the mouse-over highlight background is white, if set to negative, it is black. Only 0% works as it is supposed to...

On Kde4 apps the setting works as expected. - Jan 26 2010
Ok, I can live with that; after all it only needs kdelibs, not the whole KDE3 infrastructure. - Jul 20 2009
Now that KDE3 is slowly being phased out and most distros already ship with some version of KDE4... could it be possible to modify the KDE3-qtcurve so that it can be compiled - if so desired - without KDE3-support, i.e for Qt3 only? (now it seems to depend on kdelibs-3*)
Thus it's behavior would be similar to present KDE4-qtcurve-version (and please don't lose that feature from KDE4-qtcurve, either :) ) - Jul 19 2009
Okay! :)

As you guessed, I'm still using KDE3. I'll upgrade, eventually, some day... - Apr 08 2009
Thank you very much for the qtcurve theme, it's getting better with every release ;)

Here's one for the wishlist, though:

I'd like to have the ability to choose the background color of the tooltips - maybe the ability to control other aspects of the tooltips, too, but background color would be sufficient for now.
- Apr 08 2009
An additional note: there's a notable difference between qt3 and qt4/gtk2 on the font color handling in the disabled options in menus. It shows clearly on dark theme. - Feb 23 2009
1-3) Thank you very much for fixes!

4) Well, this highlight stuff is getting a bit strange: I have 2 Gentoo machines, both use qtcurve, same versions of all programs, a 32-bit laptop with quite dark colors, and a 64-bit desktop (as shown on the screenshots) with light colors.

On the laptop both qt3 and qt4 based apps look exactly similar, highlights and all, as look the few gtk2 apps, with one notable exception: Audacity looks totally hideous with a dark theme (the highlights being pure white).

As you can see from the screenshots showing qtconfig-qt3 (left) and qtconfig-qt4, the highlight on tabs etc. is notably lighter on qt4 on the desktop machine. I don't understand what causes the difference between the two machines.

Anyway, here are the qtrc files from both of the machines: first desktop:

I'm having some issues with qtcurve-0.61.1 version on Gentoo. The following two screenshots will show the difference between 0.60.0 http://personal.inet.fi/cool/l33tmmx/600.png and 0.61.1 http://personal.inet.fi/cool/l33tmmx/611.png.

1)gdeskcal(gtk2): qtcurve should not override application-specific font color settings on gtk2 apps.

2)sooperlooper(gtk2): (possibly the same error) it shouldn't override background color settings, either.

3)qjackctl(qt4): I haven't made up my mind whether I like the new look of qjackctl or not (inactive button frames & colour not showing), but anyway, at least I'd like to have a choice. It's strange that this is the only application I get this effect, too.

4)qt4/gtk2 highlights: some time ago I complained about the too bright highlights on qt4/gtk2 apps. Have you made any progress on that? I can still tell a qt4 app from a qt3 one by looking at the highlights, even with a rather light theme. - Feb 22 2009
I had overlooked that setting, thanks for pointing it out :). Looks nicer now. - Oct 13 2008
I'm using the latest versions on Gentoo (Qt4-0.59.6, KDE3/Qt3-0.59.5, Gtk2-0.59.7) with KDE3 (I haven't upgraded to KDE4 yet). When everything is set to as 'flat' as possible, GTK2 and Qt4 versions are using wrong (too light, at this occasion) color as a highlight. Please see the screenshots at
http://personal.inet.fi/cool/l33tmmx/kde3_qt3.png (correct highlight)
http://personal.inet.fi/cool/l33tmmx/gtk2.png (wrong highlight)
http://personal.inet.fi/cool/l33tmmx/qt4.png (wrong highlight) - Oct 12 2008
On qtcurve-0.46.1 there's a difference how the slider "groove" is depicted in KDE http://www.saunalahti.fi/~l33tmmx/kmix.png (notice the darker border) and GTK2 http://www.saunalahti.fi/~l33tmmx/gnomeradio.png (no such border). I don't remember whether this was the case in earlier versions. - Dec 09 2006

There are some severe problems with KEnigma:
- The keyboard/mouse focus handling is all wrong on this application: if the Stecker board and/or Text window is present, I can't do anything, repeat anything, either with keyboard or mouse, on the parent window, the child window totally steals the focus.
- If I close the Stecker board and/or the Text window, it is still checked in View >
- When using keyboard to input, the lamp just flashes very quickly, it doesn't stay on during the keypress, which makes keyboard input very difficult.
- The lamps doesn't show the letter in question, like in the original Enigma, they are just... lamps. - Aug 09 2008
