konversation use emoticons theme, but it's not a global settings like icon or style because there isn't an emoticon api in kdelibs for now - Dec 25 2007

not exactly, for kde4 i've transformed this emoticon manager in a kcm module for systemsettings because every kde app can use emoticons, so you can edit, make or install emoticon theme system wide, i don't know if it will be included in kde4.0, if not i will post it here :) - Aug 22 2007

it would be nice to choose the icon theme too, because gtk apps under gnome/xfce use gnome/xfce icon theme, but under kde they use the default gtk theme and it's orrible :) you can set the theme in .gtkrc with gtk-icon-theme-name - Aug 09 2007

that's not kde4, is just a mockup, if you see the titlebar there is "KD4 - Dolphin" while in the taskbar you can see "KDE4 - Dolphin"
anyway if it's not a mockup it's not the official kde4/oxygen theme - Jun 16 2007

if you use winodows live messenger you can't see custom emoticons sended from kopete, but from kopete you can see custom emoticons sended from windows live - May 30 2007

have you get some errors during patch?
try to open kopete/config/appearance/appearanceconfig_emoticons.ui
and see if there is this section after get new themes and before install theme files

did you set the right prefix with ./configure --prefix=/usr or ./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix` ? because otherwise it defaults to /usr/local - May 22 2007

you are probabily in the wrong directory you have to run patch from /path/to/kdenetwork/kopete/ - Apr 26 2007

if it's one of the default theme located in /usr/share/emoticons you can't edit it just copy it in your home directory should be something like ~/.kde/share/emoticons - Mar 21 2007
