No, what you will do is edit directly the xml file from /usr/share/apps/kdm/themes/"your_theme_name" and then load Xephyr.

If you do not like what you see then continue editing the xml file in the above directory. You do NOT have to tar, untar etc.. :-))) - Sep 30 2008

I also noticed that the menu-bar behaves like a taskbar. I do not believe that's necessary since the panel has a taskbar of its own. - Sep 13 2008
Also, it would be cool if the bespin configuration dialog came up when pressing the "configure" button in the System settings->Appearance. :-) - Sep 12 2008
I do not know about the throbber, I do not use it but I think it looks cool.

A suggestion though: I am thinking that maybe the mac-menu bar would look nicer without showing the name of the focused window. Do you think you can add an option like this (to show or not to show in the bar) in the bespin configuration dialog? Just a thought...

Btw, I think your style is the best by far, thanks again for working on it! - Sep 12 2008
One more thing...I tried to change the fonts of the titlebar to bold but instead, the bespin's decoration buttons became smaller and the fonts remained the same...a bug?

- Sep 06 2008
Never mind, I changed the window background color instead of the active titlebar and both changed! Thanks again for a great style! - Sep 06 2008
No, I am referring to qt4 applications. When I go to the colors section->Active titlebar and change the color nothing happens to the decoration...Using 253. Thanks very much for your support. - Sep 06 2008
Hi, using rev 252. I am not able to change the color of the decoration. From the color settings in the KDE control center, which is the option that lets me choose the decoration color? Thanks" - Sep 05 2008
Never mind that, I sorted it out with symbolic links. - Aug 26 2008
By the way, how can I add a path to kde4-config --path module? I need to add the ones that bespin uses. Thanks... - Aug 25 2008
Ok, never mind, I fixed the decoration thing. The kde4-config --path {module ,data} did not include the location of the bespin.desktop and kwin3_bespin.so.

Thanks again for a wonderful style! - Aug 25 2008
Ok, thanks very much, it works now! I still do not get the bespin window decoration though... - Aug 25 2008
Hi again, I just tried to compile rev 243 and I get this at the "make" stage:

Is this a file misplacement? I tried moving the dbus.h and dbus.moc inside the kwin directory but I got the same result. Thanks for any help! - Aug 24 2008

Hi again, I just installed the version 231. I can select the style "Bespin" from the Appearance menu, but there is no "Bespin" style for the window decorations. When I compiled the code it said that my system can support the decoration. Specifically, I got this:

-- INFO: XRender was found - kwin deco & FX via GPU available!

Am I doing something wrong? Thanks in advance! - Aug 13 2008
Thanks for the reply. I am sorry for the large make output, I will keep it in mind for next time ;-)

Thanks for your answer. I haven't tried it yet because I uninstalled KDE4 (conflicting with some other packages). In any case, I want to say that Bespin is one of the greatest themes I have ever seen and I want to thank you for all the time you have devoted in making all this code and for answering any questions in this post. Keep up this great work!

Hi again. I get the following errors on "make":

bespin.cpp: In member function ‘void Bespin::BespinStyle::registerRoutines()’:
bespin.cpp:133: error: ‘PE_FrameStatusBarItem’ is not a member of ‘QStyle’
bespin.cpp:211: error: ‘PE_PanelItemViewRow’ is not a member of ‘QStyle’
bespin.cpp:212: error: ‘PE_PanelItemViewItem’ is not a member of ‘QStyle’
make[1]: *** [bespin.o] Error 1

Any ideas? I use the latest version of Bespin (revision 124). Thanks - Mar 04 2008
I do not even have a configuration option in the settings. What you can do though is type in a terminal the command "bespin" and you will get a configuration dialog for bespin. - Jan 16 2008
I am sorry then...I do not have any more suggestions. - Jan 15 2008
I think you are missing some header files. I am not sure if this is the case but do you have the libqt4-dev package installed? It contains the headers for the qt4 classes. - Jan 15 2008
When you did the "./configure" did you get any message for any missing library?
- Jan 15 2008
Good! I suggest you type "sudo checkinstall -D" instead of "make install". The reason is that Bespin will be updated at some point and you will need to install the new version. Using that command will create a deb package which you can later uninstall. This way you will be able to make a clean install of the new version! - Jan 12 2008

You must have kde 4 and the qt4 headers installed. If you have that then you need to locate the qt-dir in your system. Since we use the same distribution I guess you should do:

./configure qt-dir=/usr/share/qt4

otherwise type in a terminal "locate qt4" and find where the library is. - Jan 12 2008
I do not know if this is something obvious but typing the command "bespin" in a terminal (without the quotes) you get a menu that you can configure almost everything in Bespin! - Jan 11 2008

Sorry, I thought you were meaning about the hussle with converting the icons. The website I have uploaded the icons to (deviantart) does not allow for a tar.gz file, only for zip, rar etc. :-( - Jul 26 2008
Thanks for your appreciatoion. I will keep working on it, I will soon change the filetypes to fit better with the style of the folders. I will upload it soon. Regarding the tar.gz file, there is a problem with the size, it's much bigger, I will see what I can do. :-) - Jul 26 2008
Hi. After you have generated the tar file do the following:

1) run kcontrol

2) Go to Appearance & Themes

3) Go to the Icons

4) Select Install New Theme and point it to the tar file

5) That's it!

I have been reading the README you have in the pics dir but i cannot find any "themes" variable in the Makefile.am... - Sep 03 2008
Hi and thanks for this beautiful and highly customizable decoration. I was wondering how I can include my own button theme. I already have the png files, I put them in the pics folder, I change the two makefiles in the pics directory to include my theme but when I install it, I do not see my theme listed in the buttons configurations. Can you please give me some guidelines on what I need to change to include my button theme? Thanks in advance.

Btw, I am interested in this theme:

Hi again, I just used it and I got the resulting icon set for kde4. However, when I installed it using the kde4 control center, the theme did not appear in the list.

It's like it has not installed it, even though I checked and the folder exists in $HOME/.kde4/share/icons/

Perhaps there is something wrong with kde4 and not with the script... - Aug 11 2008
I think your idea is very clever for two reasons. First, there is no icon set for kde4 and second, using your script we can have every kde3 icon set available for kde4!

I am about to try it, I will post back! Thanks! - Aug 11 2008

Have you also installed libx11-dev? If you have a x86 architecture why don't you try the binary:

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php/Domino+Deb+package+for+Kubuntu?content=74031

Once you have downloaded it just open a terminal and type

sudo dpkg -i 74031-kwin-style-domino_0.4-1_i386.deb

Good luck! - Feb 03 2008
Oops, I meant x86 architectures! The package I created is intended for x86 architectures! - Jan 27 2008
Hi dax918. The version of Domino I uploaded is created under Gutsy and is intended for x64 architectures. However, I am almost sure it will work under Feisty as well. I will include these details in the package when I can. I have not tried to install the theme in KDE 4.0 but I do not think it will succeed since the style is constructed with qt3 but kde4 uses qt4. I am not sure but I think it is possible to modify it in order to use qt4.
- Jan 27 2008
