It seems like StumbleUpon may have changed the protocol in some way. Unfortunately I haven't had much of a chance to look into the details of this. If somebody manages to find a fix though, I'll be more than happy to commit it to SVN. - Jul 08 2008
This should now be fixed in SVN. Follow the instructions on the project homepage to checkout the code. - Jul 08 2008

First off thanks for the workaround, it works great now

Fantastic

(though I needed to install the libwww perl module first).

Thanks, I added this to the list of requirements.

In regards to line 11:
/proc/{konq's PID}/exe is a symlink to /opt/kde/bin/kdeinit and not konq (don't know if that's normal). Either way, the output of "/proc/{konq's PID}/exe --version" doesn't have a single line containing the string konqueror. I guess that explains why KONQ_VER is empty.

Thanks for the info. It works fine on my system, but I guess other distros work differently. Hopefully the next release will remove the dependencies on /proc/*, whenever I get a chance to attend to this. - Feb 15 2008
Strange, I don't see why that isn't working. For the moment you can change line 11 (KONQ_VER=...) in /usr/bin/kstumble to:
KONQ_VER=3
At some stage I'll try to add a more robust solution to determining the Konqueror version. - Feb 10 2008
Sorry, that's my fault. It seems I forgot to gzip the archive. Try removing the '.gz' from the filename and see if that works. - Feb 08 2008
What version of Konqueror are you actually using?

Could you post the output of "konqueror --version"? (Unless you're using a konqueror which isn't the first in your PATH, in that case replace konqueror to the location of the binary) - Feb 07 2008
That issue should be fixed in the svn now - I've updated the Makefile so that it installs to the path indicated by kde-config --prefix. Good to hear everything else is working :) - Jan 13 2008
I've added the Digest::SHA1 requirement to the homepage, thanks for the suggestion.

The svn version should now load proxy settings from the environment. Could you please checkout the code (svn co http://stumble.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/ stumble) and let me know if this works for you? - Jan 11 2008

Okay, thanks for the lil' tutorial - but what made me miss the functions of KStumble was this: kstumble.desktop is copied to /usr/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus, though it has to be copied to ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus, at least that's how it works for me.

Hmm, the normal method works for me. What distribution are you using? Can you tell me the output of `kde-config --prefix`?

Stumbling, rating, logging in etc. works well. Still: are there any chances for a decent SU-Toolbar in Konqueror?

Most likely not. Creating a toolbar involves getting into creating libraries for konqueror etc. which unfortunately is a lot more effort than I'm prepared to exert. However, if anybody manages to create a toolbar based on the Stumble backend, I'll gladly include it in the project.

Nice work!

Thankyou :) - Jan 10 2008
I've added a wiki page about using KStumble - http://code.google.com/p/stumble/wiki/KStumbleUsage

Other documentation can be accessed at http://code.google.com/p/stumble/w/list - Jan 09 2008

Here's a patch to remove the border of the plasmoid: http://pastebin.ca/856905. It also fixes some compilation warnings and initial size of the ball. - Jan 15 2008
I agree, that would be very cool. - Jan 15 2008
I agree - this was my favourite dashboard widget in OSX, and its great to be able to use it in KDE. However, it would be even better without the border :P. The color-picker plasmoid doesn't have a border, so I'm assuming its possible. I might try to make a patch to fix this if I have a chance. - Jan 15 2008
You need to install the development package for kdelibs5. On Kubuntu, this involves `sudo aptitude install kdelibs5-dev` - Jan 15 2008
I had the same problem. To fix it I did: sudo mv /usr/local/lib/kde4/bball.so /usr/lib/kde4/lib/kde4/ && sudo mv /usr/local/share/kde4/services/plasma-applet-bball.desktop /usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/services/ && sudo mv /usr/local/share/apps/desktoptheme/default/widgets/bball.svg /usr/lib/kde4/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/widgets/ - Jan 15 2008

The + character isn't properly escaped for page titles (and possibly for the notes field as this isn't escaped either, but I haven't encountered it yet) e.g. bookmarking http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C++ results in the description field reading "C - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia". This can be fixed by adding two calls to uri_escape to line 101 like so:

exec("dcop konqueror-" . getppid() . " konqueror-mainwindow#1 newTab \"http://del.icio.us/" . $username . "?url=" . uri_escape($bookmarkurl) . "&title=" . uri_escape($pagecontent->title) . "&notes=" . uri_escape(HTML::HeadParser->new($pagecontent)->header("x-meta-description")) . "&jump=close\"");

Otherwise, this is a great utility - thankyou. - Dec 17 2007

Thanks for the patch. I'll try to test it and make a release when I get a chance.

I haven't been using qemu much lately, so haven't had much motivation (nor time) to work on the project. If you'd like to help with / takeover maintenance, you're more than welcome, just let me know. - Oct 15 2007

This is really cool. I've been having trouble with Google Earth due to the OpenGL requirements, but Marble works like a charm. Looking forward to the next release. - Mar 24 2007

I suspect something is happening with mplayer. Can you please send me the error log? - Jan 11 2007
glad you like it.
thanks for the suggestion, i'll look into it. - Oct 24 2006
I will try to add these in a future release - Sep 22 2006
think i found the problem, uploading a fixed version now - Sep 22 2006
thanks, much appreciated - Sep 22 2006
how long does it run for before closing (and is the cpu at 100% for all that time)? Also, check for a folder named /tmp/kvidenc.*/ while it is running and see what files are created in it (if it does not run for long enough for you to do this, you may need to temporarily comment out the two lines `rm -rf "$tmpdir"` from the script so that it doesn't remove the temp directory on exit).

I may add a feature for extracting audio in a future release, thankyou for your feedback. - Sep 22 2006
try running the converter in a terminal, eg:
kvidenc /home/user/video.avi mpg
(make sure the path to the file is absolute, mpg can be substituted for any of the supported output formats(ogg,3gp,etc)) and paste the debugging output here.

Sorry, the convert audio menu is from another app (audiokonverter). - Sep 22 2006

yes, very cool. Unfortunately I haven't thought of a practical use for it yet, but when I do I'm sure it will be very handy.

One gripe though is that it doesn't seem to have an option for setting a transparent background, great if you could fix this. - Oct 14 2006

perhaps someone could write a kcontrol module for easier management/creation of servicemenus? - Sep 17 2006
i agree, konqueror already has this ability. are you asking for a gui to create service menus? - Sep 17 2006
