Thank you for the kind feedback and thank you for the music suggestion. The applications icon in menu is already fixed. I have however not uploaded the update to opendesktop.org. You can grab the latest version from the project's page (https://gitlab.com/pwyde/monochrome-kde) using the installer script.

Regarding the second issue... Yes, I am aware of this. I am working on a complete re-design of the theme which will address this issue including more. Unfortunately progress is slow at the moment. Hence I cannot give an ETA on it. - Mar 29 2021

Thank you! I can't promise a light version of the theme. I am not as passionate about light themes since I feel a huge discomfort in my eyes from them. - Dec 28 2020

With all due respect, when I say that I do not understand, then that is exactly what I mean. I am kindly asking for clarification, that is all.

Thank you for bringing the AUTHORS file to my attention. I honestly did not pay attention to it when I started working on the Monochrome theme in 2018. The repo for the theme was not created as a "proper" fork. I just created a new repo and created theme files based on Materia KDE theme among other. The Git-way of working was very new to me at the time and I actually used this theme as a way to learn Git.

I totally respect and thank you for your hard work on the Materia KDE and Papirus icon theme. They are a great source for inspiration and a great theme to base modified themes off. Credit where credit's due, hence I thought/believed that the credits section in README.md was sufficient.

I will add the AUTHORS file. Is it OK to add a "modified by" line in the file? I did some searching around and seen others do that.

In regards to "CREDITS on Description", if you are referring to product page on store.kde.org/opendesktop.org/pling.com? Then of course I will fix that also. - Nov 15 2020

My apologies, but I do not understand what you mean? I have credited your work on project page: https://gitlab.com/pwyde/monochrome-kde#heart-credits

Is "Papirus Development Team" incorrect? I can change this of course. I just figured this would be correct since Materia KDE and Papirus icon theme repos are under the "Papirus Development Team". - Nov 14 2020

Global Themes by pwyde 12 comments

Hi! Here is the rather late and long explanation. The global theme file (.../plasma/look-and-feel/com.gitlab.pwyde.monochrome-kde/metadata.desktop) has Papirus icons set as a dependency. Hence it will automatically download the Papirus icon theme from https://store.kde.org/p/1166289

The issue is that the icon theme must be installed using a install script, which will of course not be executed automatically when downloaded by Plasma.

Please see the project page as stated in the description above: https://gitlab.com/pwyde/monochrome-kde

Issues/questions/suggestions are better handled by creating an issue on the project page. Also available on GitHub if that is preferred: https://github.com/pwyde/monochrome-kde - Nov 02 2020

No offence taken. I always appreciate constructive criticism, which was the reason why I removed the gradients. Another user reached out to me and asked if gradients could be removed since they were a bit distracting.

Now that I know the gradients were appreciated, I will include them as a separate version, i.e. "Monochrome Gradients" or "Monochrome Classic".

I will do this when I find some time for it. Thanks! - May 22 2020

Thank you for the kind words. I have not updated the theme lately, but have plans on implementing a few colour options. Just have to find the time for it :)

Thank you! The font in use is San Francisco: https://developer.apple.com/fonts/
You will have to do a search on the web for how to extract the fonts or get them installed on your particular distribution. - Mar 21 2019

Thank you for the kind words. I would however not consider myself a "guru" :-)
Regarding GitHub, I will probably mirror my GitLab repos there to make them more available. - Mar 21 2019

The Papirus Development theme have a tool called papirus-folders; https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTeam/papirus-folders

The tool enables you to easily change folder colors using the command line. See GitHub URL above. Good luck! :) - Jan 18 2019

Thank you! I use Arc Grey (https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1135255/) or Equilux (https://www.opendesktop.org/p/1182169/). None of them are a perfect fit but at least they are dark and look good. - Dec 11 2018

Thank you! Sure, that is the built in "Notes" plasmoid. It comes by default with Plasma desktop. Please note that I just made the default yellow colour the same matching dark grey so it ties with the rest of the theme. No other colours are available at the moment. - Dec 10 2018
