Gentoo on the moon

Wallpaper Other by janjan 1 comment

1) I liked the one without gentoo.

2) Isn't it possible to add some stars along with moon? Its trivial to do that in sodipodi/inkscape.

3) That glow around the moon -- ends abruptly. The way you've shown it is as if moon has an atmosphere, which is reflecting sunlight. In reality, such glow (or halo around the moon) arise due to scattering of light in earth's atmosphere.. so it should be visible all around the moon, regardless of the lunar phase. - just a note for perfectionists :-)

4) Might look better and more realistic if the blueness in the illuminated parts - leaves, book etc. - is reduced a bit.

So much for the comments. But I have a question too: That open book and moon in the sky - May I ask, why such a subject? Are you trying to convey any message in that wallpaper? - Jun 21 2004

I could get identical results by creating symbolic links to 64x64 and 48x48 from 128x128 icons. Similarly the smaller ones, 22x22 and 16x16 from 32x32.

Isn't that good enough? Do we really need a script and "convert" for this job? I mean.. if that is enough and let the KDE resize the icons, then why do we need to pack icons in various different sizes? I'm sure there is some catch, but I'm unable to figure :-( Perhaps it takes more resources to rescale them on the fly? Anybody can clear my doubts and throw some light there?

Thanks in advance.. - Jun 12 2004

Now, I agree that window decoration looks good with that gradient, but for small windows (like the "run-command") the background of the buttons get significantly darker than the middle portion. I don't have any suggestions there, but would be even better without that :-)

Oh, btw.. great work. Its only because of you that I'm re-compiling kdebase and kdelibs now with drop shadow patch. Been going on for the last 2 hours :( - Jun 07 2004

I've got a different version of the wallpaper on a yellow background. Downloaded few months ago and I Forget the URL. It was also seen on a couple of screenshots posted here.

If this is a modification of an existing artwork, please give credits to the original authors/creators. Afterall you released it under GPL, right?

Well.. :-) I'm wondering why nobody else reported that problem! When I tried my download, atleast 4 mirrors complained that file is not available. Same thing was reported by others. I got the "commented" version from twtelecom mirror. Anyway, it is working.

Incidently, I use kde3.2b2. kicker is unaffected by baghira settings. For eg. it refuses to put transparent menus. Perhaps some mismatch with the new transparent kicker settings and baghira settings. Rest is fine. Waiting for the kde-3.2 version.

Best wishes... - Jan 29 2004

thanks for the update.. I had forgotten about this theme. Now I switch to aqua for a while and remember those old days - when you could post comments without logging in, when Crystal icons were only for connectiva (we had marble for kde), no keramik, plastik, etc.

I was looking at the old comments posted up there.. somewhere I saw WinterWolf saying "I think your theme rocks but I am a linux newbie so please help me install it"

Enjoyd reading all the postings :-) Leaves me wondernig though... God said so much about orion and that tiny silly cluster nearby, why didnt he/she tell anybody that earth was going around the sun? Why didn't he/she tell anybody that earth is like a sphere? - Thats a serious, ok? Do you know how many people were tortured byt he chuchr in Europe (few centuries ago) because they said earth is not the center of the solar system? Why did he/she stop his/her lecture after Orion and Pleides? Job had slept of by then? that can happen. We all have slept in class rooms..

One more question. Do you believe in UFOs?

Am sorry if I said anything offensive.. got a little drunk after I cleared my phd today - that too in astronomy! hehe.. not joking... if you want I can send you my big fat thesis with lots of pictures and all.

Hey.. thanks.. it works now. Sorry for calling it a bug in the configure :( Never knew that there is one ziplib inside the X11R6/lib directory! - Jun 07 2003

KDE 3.0-3.4 Themes by clee 112 comments

Got a problem with configure:

checking for X... libraries /usr/X11R6/lib, headers /usr/X11R6/include
checking for IceConnectionNumber in -lICE... yes
checking for libXext... yes
checking for pthread_create in -lpthread... yes
checking for extra includes... added
checking for extra libs... added
checking for libz... configure: error: not found.
Possibly configure picks up an outdated version
installed by XFree86. Remove it from your system.

Check your installation and look into config.log

Is it a bug? Because it seem to have detected the X libraries correctly, stops at libz and complains about xfree86 (don't know if xfree86 installs any libz). I am using redhat9.0 on i686 (PIII) - Jun 07 2003

Wallpaper Other by moty66 4 comments

Oh... don't bother much.. that was just a naughty comment :-) I won't say it is too much green... ok to make a "no-joke" suggestion, I would say it is too blank outside that creature. Maybe if you can put a sort of de-focussed landscape in the background and few leaves on that branch (but make sure it is not taking away the attention from SuSE father), it would be better. Well that is only a suggestion from me.. Don't know if others agree to it...

All the best.. and please accept my apologies for posting a silly comment like the previous one...

Aqua OS K

KDE 3.x Window Decorations by davidsansome 139 comments

Hey.. this is great! Thanks for the great work... I could install it on my rh8.0 machine. but there seem to be few problems:

1) In the "configure acqua" tab, there is an option for update-interval. What is that for? I tried putting in some value for that and saw the shadow of the active window becoming bigger and thicker with time :-(

2) If I use "focus follows mouse" and "click to raise", then we run into some strange problems. Suppose the active window is behind another one... you see the window border + shadow of the active window on top of the other window. Gives a glass-slab-on-the-window effect :-) Can it be fixed?

Apart from those, it is just right! This should be a trend-setter...
