Komparator

System Software by jaegerschnitzel 61 comments

I've used Komparator since about Fedora 7 using the fish protocol, but after installing Fedora 10 it doesn't work and now gives me the warning:
Could not start process Unable to create io- slave:
klauncher said: unknown protocol 'fish'.

Example url: fish://mike@192.168.0.100/home/mike/Documents

However, I can open Konqueror or Dolphin and connect to my laptop immediately using the the same url. Maybe not a problem with Komparator but with KDE 4?

I'm using version .9 on both my desktop (Fedora 10) and laptop (Fedora 9) computers. The laptop uses KDE4 also and Komparator works on the laptop.
Thanks,

KShowmail

I found it. I guess I was looking for a separate menu item like in Thunderbird, but I don't know how I missed it in the configuration window. My bad.

I installed the Fedora 9 rpm, and Kshowmail launches, but there is no menu item to add/configure accounts.

soundKonverter

Audio Extractors/Converters by HessiJames 608 comments

I installed soundKonverter on both my machines, but it doesn't recognize mp3's as a supported format. I have mp3 codecs and lame on both machines. I want to convert my mp3's to ogg-vorbis. Any suggestions?

KShowmail

I've been using Kshowmail for quite a while in Fedora 5, 6, & 7 and it works great. Recently I installed Kubuntu on another machine and tried to install the Debian package, but got dependency errors. Then I found it on my menu and it works fine, but there is a glitch; when I try to use any of the package managers in Kubuntu they tell me Kshowmail is a 'broken package' and won't proceed with anything else until it uninstalls it, and it won't let me de-select it for uninstall. Any workaround for this?
