I knew as soon as I posted this I would come up with the solution.
I fired up Kmix .Chose advanced and in the output tab removed the green light from "Line In as" [top right]
To the guy with the post above, count to ten before you post flames like that. These guys donate a lot of free time to produce great programs like kdetv etc and if something is not working it is probably to do with your setup. If it is a feature you would like added let the developers know.

Probably nothing wrong with Gnumeric except it's not a home finances program. KMymoney2 is a dedicated program for this purpose as per MSMoney or Quicken something which has been lacking in KDE [in my opinion].
You should be comparing it with Gnucash which is great but not KDE and a bit unweildy for a home situation
