One of my themes had an 'underline' on list views that I couldnt get rid of, so I looked at someone's post which said that it appeared if max-rounded was selected as the rounding style, that it would permanently cause the underline to appear. So I opened a problem-free style (flat), exported the good version and, selected max-rounded and then went back to full rounded. This caused the underline to appear but not disappear. I exported the broken settings and compared them to the non-broken ones. Turns out that the setting which causes the underline (in the .qtcurve file is) focus=glow . Changing the setting to focus=standard will fix the underlining problem. - Oct 01 2013

For those who are experiencing the missing 'close tab' icon in nautilus. Please modify the index.theme file. Insert gnome as one of the inherits, just before hicolor. Also, if a theme.cache file exists, you may safely delete it, and it may even fix some of the mini-icons. - Oct 09 2012

Yes, BZ2 runs just fine on linux if you have wine installed. It takes a little bit of work to get it running though.

It's advisable that you run the 1.3 patch and then go through all of the installers it presents (ie: Visual C++ Runtime, Direct3D setup, etc), and then run winecfg, go into the 'libraries' tab and create a new entry called 'dbghelp' and then set the order to (builtin, native). You may also wish to also go into the graphics tab in winecfg and uncheck 'allow window manager to control windows' as this can cause some oddities with screen resolution. If you have further issues ask around on and I or someone else can help you get BZ2 running on linux. The distro I use is Pinguy OS 11.04. - Feb 01 2012

I kept getting this error when opening the terminal for the first time in a session:
bash: let: pwdmaxlen=/2: syntax error: operand expected (error token is "/2")

I managed to fix it by commenting out an original line in the bashrc and replacing it with one that was formatted differently:
# let pwdmaxlen=${COLUMNS}/2
(( pwdmaxlen = COLUMNS /2 )) - Jan 30 2012
Does anyone know of a way to reduce the spacing of tree items in GTK2 apps? I speak in particular of nautilus. The bookmarks/navigation sidebar has much too much spacing on the left side for the folders. - Oct 19 2011

I've been getting total system crashes when mistyping commands 'ie: kilall, apt-cache-search'.

Apparently something in the .bashrc file causes all of the memory in the computer to get used up within seconds.

I have had to restore my old .bashrc so that I could feel free to misspell commands without having to lose all my work. - May 27 2011

The widget is coded to look for internet traffic on the interface "eth0", however my computer uses "wlan0" to access the internet.

The widget works fine if your network interface is eth0. If it's not, its just a matter of find-replacing eth0 with whatever interface you're using (in my case: wlan0) - Jul 06 2010

clickarea x=60 y=180 h=25 w=25 preview=false onclick="qdbus org.kde.amarok /Player Stop"

clickarea x=180 y=180 h=25 w=25 preview=false onclick="qdbus org.kde.amarok /Player Next"

#Track informations
text x=120 y=150 color=255,255,255 sensor=program program="dcop amarok player artist" interval=1000 fontsize=20 font="Sans Serif" align=center
text x=120 y=125 sensor=program program="qdbus org.kde.amarok /Player GetMetadata | grep -m1 artist: | cut -c 9- && qdbus org.kde.amarok /Player GetMetadata | grep -m1 title: | cut -c 8-" interval=1000 font="Sans Serif" fontsize=10 align=center

Instead of saying *your user name* -- a better thing to do is replace that with $USER -- that way when it's copied/pasted into the terminal, it will substitute the current user's name -- even if it's run with sudo.

Of course, if the user's name is changed to root (like through sudo -su) then it will use replace $USER with 'root' -- but thats not an issue if you're using sudo on each command instead of sudo -su. - Mar 11 2009
If it hasnt been mentioned enough in my previous large post. THIS THEME BREAKS FACE BROWSER. Meaning that no faces will be displayed if you have selected a GDM theme which displays faces. You have been warned! - Mar 10 2009
This is more than just a GTK2+ theme, its a DEB package which changes your bootsplash, GDM, mouse cursor and many other things. The GTK2 theme is nice as a standalone and the icon theme is also good looking but I have a few issues with some of the other things. The bootsplash is not to my taste, its not terrible I just prefer the default ubuntu bootsplash. One MAJOR issue I found was that the 'face' of my main user account was removed from the face browser and i'm looking for ways to get it back, I didnt ask for any of the GDM stuff to be changes so i'm VERY disappointed. Another thing that really bothered me was the mouse cursor that the theme package sets everything to, its HUGE, I want a small cursor, not a small cursor with a large animated penguin attached to it, the theme sets this as the GDM default as well -- and the only way i've been able to change this back is to uninstall the theme completely. It was a huge waste of time. - Mar 10 2009

You're using compiz fusion, right? (the thing with the desktop effects, like the cube)

If so, go here
and download the emerald theme.

Then open up emerald theme manager, and click on the import button and navigate to where you downloaded the theme.

Then select it and you're good to go! If you dont have compiz-fusion, ubuntu with desktop effects on, or any desktop manager that uses Emerald for theming, then you're out of luck - and will have to download window decorations for your normal desktop manager (whether its GNOME or KDE) - Mar 29 2008

You're right about Vista not being the only good look. I just wanted to improve upon whatever vista-like themes were out there because I personally like the look of it, even if I dont like the OS itself.

As far as originality is concerned, this doesnt matter for me, I just want a theme which looks good. If you want something original, you are perfectly welcome to do it yourself. Its not as easy as it sounds. - Mar 20 2008

LOL. I use linux because I like linux, one great thing about it is that you can customize it to however you want it to look and behave. Liking the look of vista does not negate the attractive qualities of linux. If I actually wanted to use that piece of crap (Vista), I would fork over my hard earned cash to use it and would certainly not be contributing themes here to be shot down by ignorant people like yourself! - Mar 18 2008

Hi, I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy and I get a blank menu when I click on it. When I click off of the menu it stays there and I have to remove the vista-menu from the panel to make it go away.

I ran " run-in-window", it did the blank menu thing, and the terminal kicked out the following
